Hey,

Recently i bought this adaptor, as i thought it should do the trick

You plug the VGA into the back of the monitor, and connect the RCA to the playstation output.

When i connect this up, it does not work, and displays nothing.

Is it a compatibility issue, or is the wire defective.

The monitor i am trying to use is a LG, and it's a new widescreen 22" one.

+REP rewarded to all suggestions.

I have one and it doesn't work for me. I beleive you need some special device to power it, but I just chucked it in the drawer for another day.

I beleive VGA and Composite (Red, white and yellow) are not compatible signals though, but as they are selling it, it must work?

The graphics card on the device you're using it on must support VGA out of the box. It doesn't work on the Playstation because the Playstation cannot support VGA out of the box. (it works both ways. If I wanted to use this to plug my computer into a TV I would have to make sure my computer's graphics card supports composite output).

To use a Playstation on a monitor you need a transcoder box. Something such as: http://www.consoleplus.co.uk/product_info.php?pName=shuttle-sxga-box-vgadvicomponentrgb&osCsid=a628cc8b923b7381f409f3f69f118bd4

I don't see why they've put sockets for you to plug the red and white phono connectors into the cable as they're the audio channels and the VGA interface has bugger all to do with audio.

If your graphics card on your computer supports composite output (see technical specifications) then you can use this adapter to use your computer with a TV.
