Hey there,

I'm in desperate need of some notation software for my GCSE's in Music. I'd prefer Finale but anything is fine.

Pirates aren't cheapskates, because I simply can't afford something like Photoshop makes me a cheapskate now?

Yes, if you can't afford a pair of jeans, you don't run into the shop steal them then run, do you? no, of course you don't.

If your too poor to afford something, use a cheaper alternative or something free.

Jeans can cost as little as £5, programs like photoshop cost about £300. I doubt anyone here can afford that.

Some people might be able to, but I doubt many people could. No one would pay for it anyway when you can get it for free.

You deserve to be in jail then.

I love how you say that, but really your some sad kid behind a computer acting great, but you'd never dare break any rules that you aren't protected behind computer, you wouldn't dare steal something out a store or something. ;)

Hence i said ALTERNATIVE SOFTWARE. alternative means DIFFERENT just so you know.

I laughed at the fact you're calling me sad when you know nothing about me blates.

Yeh, i wouldnt steal anything from the store? or a shop, or off anyone unless a really good reason.

But anything to do with the computer yes, millions of people download illegal stuff and yet you diss them?

also, stop with your examples of stealing or such, becasue it not even the same.

Well infact i have been told that Sibelius and Finale are the only software which will be suited to my needs, unlike you i dont have hours each day to find alternatives so this is the route i've decided to go down.

It's not stealing because when you steal you take it, and it is gone. When you download wares you make a copy of the original thing so you are not actually taking it.

In the criminal law, theft (also known as stealing) is the illegal taking of another person's property without that person's freely-given consent.

You're taking that without paying the fee thats charged

But you are not taking it, you are making a copy of it. So its not stealing.

When you get caught downloading illegally, you are in trouble for copyright infringement, not theft.

scottish
24-11-2008, 05:59 PM
Yes it is.

It's also copyright infringement, you're still stealing the software.
