Stephen!

Jesus, sounds like a MASSIVE mistake on their end. Hell, I wouldn't even care about the upload speed if your download is almost 50mb... Just hope they don't notice that they're accidently giving you like 8x the speed you should be getting

Lol, surely you noticed whether you're connected via a phone line or firbe optic cable? As far as I am aware, no UK telephone exchange is capable on anything past ADSL2+ which can do around 25Mbps downstream, so you must be connected via some other means.

Stephen!
24-11-2008, 06:45 PM
Well it could be fake. Im still pretty sure that he's getting the 50mb or even the 100mb trial in his area. But as nick said, those speeds just aren't possible with ADSL2

You can't get that speed down copper cables...

Lol @ you.

Ethernet cables are made of copper. Virgin Media's modems are connected to the street via copper cable. It is possible to do around 100Mbps over a phone line using new technologies.

Stephen!
24-11-2008, 07:06 PM
Indeed, but they currently dont have a modem released that can do more than 45MBps

Recursion
24-11-2008, 07:06 PM
Yes but I mean you can't get that speed down copper cables to an exchange generally.
