Nope, for an adult baptism they actually immerse you in the water

Surely if you don't believe in it then it doesn't make a difference?

I am the only one in my family apart from my dad who isnt baptised.

Which is unfortunate as both sides have catholic relatives (one side is mainly irish, the other also has irish relations) and they are not allowed to know that I havent been baptised.

My great auntie found out and she now prays for me every day because im not.... I feel really bad but I cant stop her.

Yeah it does make a difference to me,
that's like saying a guy whos straight doesnt mind having it off with a gay guy.
He might not believe in it, but he doesnt want it, it's not his lifestyle.

It actually depends on what religion it is...and where he's getting christened.

No but out of interest does it make any difference? Does it make you a better Christian than another Christian who hasn't been baptised.

Arch
27-11-2008, 11:38 PM
yes i have when i was a baby

J0SH
27-11-2008, 11:40 PM
Yeah when I was a baby. It's nothing to worry about, they just put holy water and make a sign of the cross and then do a few prayers to welcome you into God's family.

Not at all lol because it doesn't affect you in any way. It's more like a straight guy having another bloke call him cute, because it's not something he particularly wants but it has no adverse effect

Yes actually lol. If you're going to be religious you should really read the scriptures

Someone with common sense. I don't think having his head splashed with water as a child would have done any particular harm.

Inseriousity.
28-11-2008, 12:48 PM
I was baptised in the Church of England because my nana made my parents do it. I tend to put my religion as N/A on application forms though. :P

Are you from a Baptist Church where they do it as an adult and then put your whole head underwater?

irJen
28-11-2008, 12:54 PM
Yeah I have, I wore a bikini with clothes over the top.

It was an outdoor pool and rain was sooo bad, so everyone watching got as drenched as us being dunked lol

Nope I haven't, but I've seen a few videos where the priest touched up a 15 year old girl who was getting baptized, also nearly drowned a 12 year old kid.

yeh, why so late? lolll

My mum said i should have it now because she says i'm "Devils child until you got baptized" It all started because she caught me talking to myself one day. :P She's a crazy mother.

No but out of interest does it make any difference? Does it make you a better Christian than another Christian who hasn't been baptised.

Nope but seeing as Jesus and the rest of his disciples got baptized i think it's right to be baptized.

I was baptised about 2 or 3 years ago. You are NOT naked, he dips ur head in water or wiped loads on ur face - cant remember, lights a candle and gives it to you.. I couldn't stop laughing.

christened and baptized is different lol

No it's not, it's exactly the same except obviously your not going to dunk a baby under the water. The word 'Christened' is just an informal way of saying 'Infant Baptism'

Infant baptism is the Christian religious practice of baptizing infants or young children.

and yes I was baptised as a baby =]

I've been baptised, had my first holy communion and my confirmation. I don't really believe in God, but my school is really catholic and so is my family.

NO, its alot different

being christened is a promise between your parents saying that they are going to bring you up to believe in Jesus

Being baptised is YOUR choice and you have to make alot of promises and show you are commited to do it

i was invited along to 2 of my friends being baptised, thats how i know so much about it lol.

Christenings are ********. It's so half-hearted. Why not commit to a religion in a proper way like the Jews do? Get a hand cut off and show real commitment, better still, lose the tongue and let your children, and other people, decide for themselves what religion to follow.

well actually, Christening doesnt actually mean your commiting to a religion.. your a baby. Its the parents who are saying they'll try and bring you up that way.
