I hope so. I'm going up there today. I have about 3 local Woolworths and I hope one of them has cheap video games or cheap DVDs.

If they go into Liquidation, then yes they will sell the majority of their stock for cheapo prices. Right now they're trying to rescue the company through Administration, so until it's declared the company is liquidating, you have nooo chance.

I've been to 1 of 3 locally, and the prices of DVDs and video games are still quite high. I'm going to another Woolworths store when my Mum gets back.

I doubt it, because they don't technically own the stock. They sell on behalf of other companies.

Unless a buyer is found then obvs there is going to be a huge stock clearance most likely 50-75% off most items. The government is trying is best to keep the store open after Christmas and is trying it's best to make sure staff is payed. So no cheap Pick' n Mix' this Christmas I'm afraid. :P

If things are the same how it is now, then it's most likely after Christmas probs 2-3 months in 2009 - more than half its stores will close.

I think it's really sad that Woolies could end up closing in the new year, from about the age of 4 I'd go shopping with my mummy and I'd go in there and buy a bag of pick and mix and now years later whenever I go into town to go get some clothes or something I pop in and get some :'( I just don' know what I'll do if they close a shopping trip with out pick and mix is like a sandwich without bread :'(

It's definately staying open until Christmas, nothing's certain yet anyway. And other than toys, nothing is dead cheap at the minute.

yeh sainsburys by us has done it early my mum has said she saw it on her receipt.

I really hope the prices drop .. brand new xbox 360 games for about 35 quid instead of 49.99 would be awsome.

They have usual christmas sales. Things like games will not be sold off mega cheap. They are the one thing that'll sell highly regardless.

As far as pick-n-mix goes, wouldn't go near. Like 1 in 3 people have some form of faeces on their hands.
