Hi everyone, I have plans of introducing a website so that I can start my online business. The site will be dealing in computer accessories and all the hardware stuff that is related to the computer field with an online purchase facility. But, before that I would like to know the pre-requisites that are needed to run a website of your own that has an online payment option, as I was informed about the SSL certificate issues by my developer and would like to know more on this from you people.

about what SSL is?
SSL stands for (Secure Socket Layer) it means any data transmitted through SSL will be encrypted so 3rd partys can't hijack the data and get relevant data such as CC details etc. It is really required for online businesses.

depends if you are taking credit card payments and are storing them into your own database, that will require a very high end SSL (512+ upwords I guess)
if your using paypal, google, etc you'd be better of using there SSL (as payments go thru on there website, not yours so you do not need an SSL)
