Do you think that lads having long hair is a bit dated nowadays? It's just that I still have shoulder length hair and it's like, I walk in a pub and I can feel people staring at me sometimes. Same at college, I walk through college and the year 12 lads kind of stare at me. Should I get it cut or something?

I hate curly hair, so its good its not curly, however, totally straight isnt cool either, do something with it, move the fringe to the side or something? :P

I have tried different styles when it's wet, but my Mum is like, "OMG YOU LOOK LIKE HITLER!" Lol, quite demoralising. It's quite thick my hair is, so I might get it thinned out and have it messed up a bit or maybe have it cut to look like this or something:

If THAT is your hair then yes please cut it as 1) shoulder length isn't really long, it's just scruffy and doesn't look at all smart 2) straight cut fringe and bangs like that is a girl's haircut anyway lol
Proper long hair I'm not a fan of but having been there can kinda understand, but I don't get why guys want their hair shoulder length. It's a really annoying length to manage, you can't do anything with it and as I said above, it looks really scruffy. Guy above that you posted looks really greasy btw lol but if you can pull it off without looking like that then that's far more respectable.

Nah man, stand up and fight! No wonder you get bullied if you deliberately try to get yourself bullied. It's not about standing up and fighting or trying to be different to ratify people, it's stuff like that which will get anyone bullied.

Its an okay lengh, just get a different style. Firsts get rid of the fringe, that is abit dated and like someone else suggested, mess it up ect. so it dosn't look so smart.

Just keep it how you want, don't care what anyone else thinks, lol. My hair is half way down my back and I get the odd person thats like 'omg look at his hair' or 'when are you going to cut your hair', but most people say I should keep it how it is.

So did I. Drake and Josh was awesome! :P Looks fine to me to be honest. Not everyones going to like long hair, but not everyones going to like short hair either. That's why you should just do what you want. :D
Wayne
29-11-2008, 11:24 PM
Yeah, thanks again. I do like that short hair style of Drake's as I posted above. I might just get my hair thinned out a bit and maybe some off the back since my hair is really thick. I don't really want much length off it, so I'll just say keep it the same length but make it thinner.

Kay well first of all you know I lub u and I am gonna be honest lol.
In my personal opinion I guess maybe the whole long straight hair thing you've got going on was pretty much really the in thing. But that seems to have sorta developed over time and it's now into more shorter and choppier versions... And I think you've maybe just not developed along with it and therefore you are feeling a bit left behind and outdated.
Personally, I think you should get it cut shorter a bit. I think shorter - semi-long hair is more in for boys at the moment and tbh it's just much easier to manage. Also, with your current hair there is very, very little you can do and you can't particularly change it or spice it up at all from day to day. If you had it a bit shorter you could try different styles out much easier and it would let you gradually find a style that you really suit.
However, if you actually personally do like your hair and think it's fine and don't want to change then please don't. It really is down to you what you like and if it's long hair for you, then stick with it mate. Everyone is gonna have different opinions as you can see from this thread, some people think the longer thing is cool and have it themselves whilst others have been there or not and think shorter is perhaps the way to go. But at the end of the day you are the one managing and living with it - so it's how you feel.
I know that actually getting it done will be the biggest and maybe most hard part as the outcome of that will be the most noticable and stuff.
I think you could do it 2 ways though, you could maybe get it cut a bit shorter than it is at the moment to the kind in the picture and try it out at a more short length then if you really like that stick with it, if not you can go back and get it shorter a bit again.
Otherwise I would maybe suggest doing it the other way around and getting it the shortest in the first place and style it as you go along to see how you like it.
One thing though I would say that is important, is even if you are keeping it long - you could still go to a stylist/barber/hair dresser every few weeks or so and just get them to put some vibrancy back in it and maybe try out some slight tweaks.
TO SUM UP lol I basically think it really is down to what you want. At the end of the day though, if you get your hair cut it isn't going to take pure ages to grow back in and youc an always end up with it back as it is now if thats what you choose. I think you should maybe just go for it and try out a new wee style to give yourself a change and see how you like it - and if not you can easily let it grow back in.
ps. about photoshopping hair onto your face - I really do not recommend at all. lol Everyones hair style is different and you can never just apply someones hair to your own persona. Even if you take a picture into the hairdressers and say "that kinda thing" they try and replicate it but you never come out with the exact same style! Thats another suggestion, you could just print out some fotos and say try this one or whatever or get a hairdressers opinion. Do you know any in the family/friends? (BTW I quoted the pic cause I really don't like that guys hair rofl)
EDIT: I LIKE THIS STYLE:-

Thanks a lot Allan, means a lot to me that you typed loads just because I have a hair problem. Much appreciated. :) I'll probably have it like this first, since the fringe length is similar to mine and it won't take that long to grow:
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee136/suwarnaadi/84.jpg
On the other hand, if I dislike that, I'll probably try the style that you dislike, sorry but I like that style quite a bit. (:P) It might take some getting used to styling it though since my hair has been 'trained' to be straight down, not gelled to the side a bit.
http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i254/amyrrt/Drake.jpg
But I suppose if I were to have it cut like the first image I posted, I could easily change it to the style number 2 above without getting it cut even more, if you get me. My Mum & sister have a good home hairdresser who is in her twenties I think, so she'll probably be able to offer me advice.

No problem at all.
Yeh exactly, next time you have the hair dresser round or whatever or even when you are going to get your hair cut - just say the sort of style your after and ask for their opinion.
And yeh even though I personally may not love that style, if it's what your into then by all means go for it. Theres nothing worse than having hair to suit other people when you are not comfortable with it yourself mate. :)
Like you say - they styles are quite similair anyway so it will at least give you a bit more freedom from now and let you style it as you please and differentiate it a wee bit.

Wayne

I've never used hairspray. Would it make it look wet though? I kind of like the look of gel on it.
it would kinda make it look wet. If youve sprayed your hair a colour before itll turn out like that. Cant really explain lol
Wayne
30-11-2008, 05:18 PM
Sprayed a colour? Lol.
Hmm, I suppose it's up to you. I had longish hair for a while, was alright. But I think short is easier to manage. Long takes to long to do. But I think if you went somewhere inbetween (like have it shorter and your fringe to the side) it'd be ok.
And tbh, if you like it - why change? As once it's all gone you could really hate it.

Lol it isn't a girl since the site says men's straight hairstyles. Right click the link and check properties lol. Tbh, a messed up fringe would make me look weird as I've always had a straight fringe and it's been trained to be straight. Worth a try though.

I don't get it? Why it is bad for a guy to have long hair?
I've had long hair for a few years now, it's not stupidly long it's just a bit past my shoulders, been meaning to get it cut for a while just can't be bothered, long hair looks way better than short hair, it has nothing to do with "being cool" xD
