For those of you brought here by the force thread, you must read the LAST POST in this thread regarding security, its essential. The rest is optional. Sorry, we couldn't force individual posts!

So, as has become far too common, Forum Updates are lacking, but this time for a good reason! We will be focusing on Christmas festivities so all forum updates will be related to user feedback, but there will be lots of new stuff coming out for the Christmas celebrations, like new arcade games and lots of events and comeptitions.

Anyway, this week's changes and notices!

Congratulations Forum to the Congratulation and Thank You's Forum
A Note on VIP
A Note on Security and Recovery Messages

ENJOY!

This week's sole change is the change of the "Congratulations" forum to the "Congratulations and Thank You's" forum, where you can thank people for HABBOX RELATED good deeds like donations or buying you VIP. We do not, however, want people thanking their mothers for giving birth to them, or such ludicrous things. Write them a card, we're not suggesting to not show that you care!

A quick note on VIP. We are not sure if it will continue after January 1st but it is projected to be leaving on January 1st, just so nobody is disappointed. We want to warn our users that we are trying to reach a compromise where we may be able to keep VIP, but we can make no promises. We simply do not want users to feel decieved if we are allowed to keep VIP past January 1st but at this point it does not look likely, so if you want VIP in the coming months/year you should probably buy it now! The VIP promotion will probably be run again next Christmas if we are not allowed to keep VIP to help with Habbox hosting costs.

Hey guys,

Sorry for inconveniencing you by making you read this, but its important. The other two updates for this week are above and Habbox Santa's announcement is in the main announcement forum, but you don't have to read that if you don't want to!

We would just like to bring a few things to the attention of the community in terms of safety related issues. Our resident vigilante PaulMacC has found that Yahoo now has a revert link similar to MSNs. While if you keep your information secure its unlikely your Yahoo will be reverted as it doesn't ask you for IPs or messenger contacts, instead things like ZIP codes and names and DOBs, we want our members to be aware that Yahoo emails are not entirely safe. At the moment it looks like google is the most secure in terms of not being reverted, however that may change.

The best advice we can give our members is for Forum and Habbo related emails, to enter fake information and NOT TELL ANYONE. Either that, or use secret emails that nobody will get wind of.

The other thing we would like to note, is how people are flippantly taking Recovery Messages. You NEED to set a recovery message, and you NEED to remember it. Recent users who have tried to get their safety bans lifted know this all too well. Support tickets are usually checked once a day so if you know your Recovery message your account can be returned in a day or two. If not, it is a time consuming process that takes on average a week. It is to your advantage to set and remember your recovery message.

And one last thing, about emails. You must set one. If you completely distrust Habbox, set a fake one, but you MUST set one, otherwise you will be unable to use the support system, it will tell you that a field is missing. It is absolutely essential that you set an email address on your account!

That's all folks!
