View Full Version : Will the names of your children be affected by people you know?

The other thread kind of made me think of this.

For example, say you know somebody called "Stuart" and he is a horrid person would this put you off calling your children this name?

Or alternatively, if there was someone called "Andy" who was dead nice, would this encourage you to call your child this name?

yeh maybe. if i didn't want to be reminded by someone i wouldn't go name my son or daughter after em lol

oh + my auntie looked through baby names + meanings till she found somethin she liked the meaning of and she picked catherine lolol

naming ma daughter gisele (model is named gisele aswell) would give me hopes that the baby would b pretty.but if the baby is propa ugly (which she wont be tho) i wont name her gisele cuz thats just mean.

but yh if i knew ppl who were nice and i liked their names, then there probably would be a change i'd use that name. if the person was a **** however, then i probably wouldnt name ma child that name.

Yep, I'd never call my child Elliott for example, because I know a person called Elliott who's a right... idiot... and I wouldn't want to be reminded of him :)

i guess its all todo with ppl hoping that their child will turn out like that person where the parents got the name from.

Oh yes. If I ever lost someone I loved or saw a person in a book/film that I adored I would name it after them.
If I have a kid when I grow up I want to call it after Bella&edwards kid in breaking dawn which is Renesmee

Haha, you see I would call my son Elliott because I don't know anyone with that name (offline :P - I think we know who I'm chatting about :P)

Probably, if I had a son I wouldn't be naming him Michael any time soon. :P

Nah, I've pretty much settled on Imogen for a girl, boys name is undecided tho. Don't think anyone I know is called Imogen.

Hm, it depends as your gf/wifes perception of those names might be totally different to yours
