I'm still downloading it, i've left my computer on while afk but it's still done barely any :'(

Also apparently not many computers can actually handle it and has graphic issues :o

Basically it's a crappy port form the console versions and the controls are poorly mapped.

The game itself is great. But the lack of AA and performance really lets it down.

Reformatting and starting fresh with GTA IV gets no lag.

NVIDIA:
General:
Occasionally the tree leaves will appear as square boxes.

Changing the resolution or minimizing the game can sometimes result in visual
corruption. You can restart the game to resolve this issue.

A slightly visible diagonal line appears across the screen.

1900 or less series cards:
Cars do not show damage.

3600 series cards:
Can show very noticeable banding.

When transitioning from interior to exterior the screen will pulse with different
intensities of light for a few seconds.
On occasion the water will jitter rapidly.

http://www.tehupload.com/uploads/app-48528655980962211.png

and my specs:

CPU: Pentium Dual Core 2.00GHz (getting Core 2 Quad Q6600 for xmas)
RAM: 2GB (getting 4 GB soon)
GFX: Palit Nvidia GeForce 8500GT Super+1GB

so why am I laggy and you're not :(

Wow, 15gb i heard you can make private servers for this.

Stephen!
05-12-2008, 11:48 PM
For the game to run smooth, you need a Quad core and 4GB RAM

And I have a GTX260 GPU.

But don't feel bad.. it's a real crappy port. Great game though.

Flisker
05-12-2008, 11:51 PM
yea from what I can play (low settings and res at 1024 x 768 (norm res should be 1440 x 900)). Can't wait for my Quad core and 4 GB ram cos atm the game is maxing out my pc.

Stephen!
05-12-2008, 11:53 PM
Those two upgrades will help ALOT. This is the first game that actually uses 4 Cores of a CPU and more than 3.5GB of RAM. Maybe because of all the stuff it needs to calculate, but I think it's just poor optimization

Flisker
06-12-2008, 12:19 AM
Yea, I saw it max and lag my system out so much I was like WOAH cos no game has ever done that before it maxed every resource I had in my pc.

Stephen!
06-12-2008, 12:35 AM
I just finished playing myself. On my CPU/RAM sidebar gadget the RAM part was 98% full.

Insane

What graqhics card would you guys reccomend upgrading to so I can get a decent performance? Want it cheap as possible :( (Paid £650 for this comp so I would of thought it would have been able to last a few good years before needing upgrading >.<)

Stephen!
06-12-2008, 10:04 PM
You would need to upgrade to at least an 8800GT, Q6600 and 4GB of RAM for this game to run "ok". It really is a system killer. Like, twice as much as crysis was. If you want my opinion, it's not worth upgrading for just this game.

I have a Q6600 @ 2.4ghz and 3GB RAM, my Graphics Card was always crap to begin with but I didn't think it would be that far behind and rubbish >.<

Stephen!
06-12-2008, 10:15 PM
Hmm in that case then 8800GT would be a decent upgrade. You should be able to play on medium (which still looks great)

Technologic
06-12-2008, 10:43 PM
it'd be cheaper to buy a 360 + the game than upgrade your pc to a sufficient level

If your looking to upgrade, nows the time.
Xmas means aload of places cut prices (Well in the UK it is atm) and in the UK with the new VAT prices might be best to buy from the UK :D

Stephen!

Prices are still high. A 2.5% drop in VAT is not alot.
