Well in ICT at school we're making a website for a Cinema, and i've like started over and over again as i just cant get the first impression right, now i have a background and a box for the content to go in.

What do you think about the background and the strip in the middle..

click here (http://ohabbo.com/screen7/home.php) i had to use an old domain LOL

i wanna know if the backgrouns and content bit is ok before i start my 5th attempt

It's fine. Keep it nice and clean, block color. Check out twitter.com. Their sort of styling how they have that arrow, but they keep it fully the same color... kinda like that.

Ah. I just got the background. Ever heard of compressing? That took at least a minute... lol.

Center the background image, and have it feather off into the bg color, otherwise you run into problems with people with big monitors. We don't all have 19inchers.

Looks allright. The middle grey box could be a black box with like the opacity of 10-20%?

If you stretch the window, the background stays on the left, and the content box comes to the middle, looking pretty stupid. Just make the bg image fade out on either end, and then center it.

It doesn't matter. 1) It doesn't make any difference; 2) He's already reached an opacity he's happy with.

Meti..

i have just done that then, dosent look right, u cant see the box very much, and i want quite a light box for the content

Hypertext screenie?, its ok mine

EDIT: Hypertext i get it now, i didnt read your first post prperly, i might just make the background image wider so then smaller screens just see less of it yet big screens see all of it, reaching from end to end

That took about 5 minutes to load the background image.

i might leave the background width be, as the screens at school do not exceed 19inch

i flattened the BG PNG that took it from 5.47mb to 1.68mb

i also added the left half of a picture to the right bit of the background and the right half to the left side, so i can horizontaly loop the background for higher resoloutions

Wow? How can any of that image even be more than 1mb

Put in photoshop then save for web and devices + max colours PNG is enough.

Also may i ask, is that a relative of yours in ur sig?

Lol I hated doing that, I found it so boring.

I'm in Y9 now doing a masks theater house thing.

And that Layout is v. good, part from the other half of troy on the right side of screen :P

Dont use javascript for button mouseovers.
Use css :)

it takes minutes to load.
use a white content box, with black border. then change the borders opacity to something like 50%
