Well i'm getting a PS3 for xmas, and i just wondered what everyone thought was better

in my eyes its obviously ps3

blu ray
higher def
built in hard drive - 20,40,60gb - xbox360 big chunky top thing
smaller power cable
better quality
non-battery controllers - 15mins to charge for 30hour use
faster more ghz
silent fan

and much more, i think the xbox is shabby, looks shabby, overheats, unreliable

i could go on..

yes, i am going off specifications, demo vids, and the occasional play on consoles in tesco before we get chucked out by the security for being on them too long 8-)

I just dont wanna get stuck with a console i'll regret

blu ray - that's the only good thing
higher def - Wrong, they're the same.
built in hard drive - 20,40,60gb - xbox360 big chunky top thing, so? Doesn't affect the looks. xbox can go upto 120gb
smaller power cable - knitpicking
better quality - *** kind of comment is that, that's an opinion
non-battery controllers - 15mins to charge for 30hour use - dnno if thats actually true.
faster more ghz - so cell is good? 360 does exactly the same thing.
silent fan - xbox is quiet when playing off the harddrive

and much more, i think the xbox is shabby, looks shabby, overheats, unreliable - more proof you're an idiot.

i could go on..
and in other words, you're just a sony fanboy, now piss off.

xbox has better online and the harddrive is on the outside so that you just take it off in seconds and take it to your friends house or anything.

xbox 360

far better for price n if you wna charge up your controller get some rechargables or a plug n play kit!!!

xbox 360 also has a better CPU which means its quiter to the ones you're friends play probs (i think cpu makes it quiter)

hardrive well if you didnt have a hardrive your xbox would look ugly.

xbox 360 supports up to 1080i i think.

PaulMacC

Blu Ray - Probably the only thing it's got on the xbox360
Higher Def - Only if you hook it up to a 60'' TV with HDMI cables it will be crisper, doubt it now with being able to burn your discs on 360.
Built-in HDD - It doesnt look bulky + 360 has bigger HDD sizes ;)
Smaller Power Cable - 360's power brick is to prevent power surges.
Better Quality - What do you mean?
Non-Battery Controllers - Play & Charge kit, Wired controllers.
More Faster GHZ - Whats this meant to do with the games?
Silent Fan - Burn games to HDD, silent as a predator.

The Xbox360 has far more on the PS3, It has a better online service for one, it has far better exclusives and a far better online community and interface.

Xbox 360 is better, I've never had RRoD so what are you on about overheating? RRoD is caused by hardware failure, obviously Xbox 360 isn't £500 odd on the market so they can't fit all crap that a PS3 has fitted.

The Xbox 360 has a warranty that lasts for 3 years covering RROD so I'm not even concerned about RROD tbh.

I'm not a genius on High-Definition but I'm pretty sure it goes in this order, 720p, 1080i, 1080p - Both consoles can do all the way up to 1080p (This does rely on the game though) and both have HDMI Ports built-in, however on the Xbox 360 Arcade & Premium you'll need to buy a HDMI Cable for around £15.

£350 now? Yeah and Xbox 360's are about £120!! It's not worth that £230 odd quid for a Blu-Ray player which a number of people wouldn't use and couldn't use for starters and there is now Blu-Ray players under £230, making that argument, INVALID.

I personally prefer the whole Xbox Live experience, Xbox 360 dashboard and the exclusive games.

Is that something you need seperately? My uncle has this lame thing you need to plug the controllers into so you can't play while charging, it's so annoying. >.<

_____

@Neil - PS3 Controllers have 6-axis technologyNo I'm saying that the Xbox 360 is only £120 and that the bad value in comparison Sony PS3 costs £350 and it's only real advantage is Blu-Ray, it's the main argument with PS3 users use and a lot of people can't use Blu-Ray and for the £230 price difference, you can buy a Blu-Ray player.

Xbox 360 + Blu-Ray Player comes in under £350

I'm pleased that money isn't an issue for you but for most of us, value is very important so in a XBOX 360 VS PS3 argument it's a totally valid point to use.

If I were you I would not call people fanboys, not long ago you didn't have a clue what one was, don't make such accusations.

08-12-2008, 06:21 PM
Yes i understand, that you need as good as you can get, for cheaper, thats why i was gonna get an xbox360 until i saw the better specifications of the ps3.

Value for money is an important issue, maybe putting the xbox infront, but due to that being invalid in my case, probably pulls the ps3 back into lead, so far as i know, again only going of specifications, demo vids, the occasionally play, not having the whole gaming experience and long term playing, it can be hard to make a decision.

You don't need to even worry about the specs. it is pointless to buy a console just because it has a better graphics card or something, no PS3 game looks any better than an xbox 360 game, the games are made for the consoels you play them on, consoles are not like PCs, you don't have to worry if you can play a game or not, if you have the console and the game you're after is out on that console then you'll be able to play it.

If you're getting it for Christmas then you might aswell get a PS3 then buy a 360 yourself when and if you ever want too.

Personally i think the games exclusievly to ps3 are rubbish, im not into war games and stuff like that like MGS, or Halo, the reason i didnt get xbox 360.

So really all the games im interested in are cross-console, so i went for the better spec console.

If you want the multi-platform games you're better off with the 360 since the better half of them are buggy/glitchy ports on the PS3.

For the hard drive issues, who on earth needs a 120gb hard drive for there xbox?

I have an 80gb ps3 and I find it hard to fill that. The only reason xbox have larger hard drives is because you xbox fan boys can brag about it.

For the remotes, you shouldn't have to buy rechargeable batteries and "plug and go" thing. That just simply adds to the total cost.

For the "quiet if from hard drive". Why on earth should you have to rip every single game you have just for it to be quiet? :S

Yes, they are both good consoles, but Microsoft don't play fair in the market, so my votes going to the PS3.

AlexOC

in comparison

the ps3 is going for pure raw power yet the xbox 360 is going for online,

So really, its what yopu want it for, i dont really wanna play online much, but if i do, its not like there will be nobody online, it will just be a bit less enjoyable than xbox's online play, which im not that really bothered about

You said that cross-platform games are your thing. Since the 360 is the more popular/owned console these games are usually designed for the 360 and then "ported2 the PS3. It is best playing games on the intended console rather than ports, no matter what the spec of the other console.

Keeping in mind the spec is hardly even noticable.
Cross platform games aren't going to have better graphics on the PS3.

Blu-ray makes little difference in the long term, not to games anyway.

I would say PS3. Look on this forum (and many others) about peoples 360's getting the ever-so-lovely RRoD. And then compare it to Sony people having issues.. ;)

J0SH
09-12-2008, 05:12 AM
Well that's the manufacturers fault then isn't it, it's still a amazing console regardless, if you wanna avoid RRoD invest in a fan to keep it ventalated and it won't heat up. ;) And by the way, how comes you only named PS3's strong points and not Xbox's?

Blinger1

It's great for movies, pictures & music if you are into other things other than gaming, it's fully functional for parents if they wanna put timers on and such, it had a HDTV switch too for optimized gaming, 20, 60 & 120 HDD's, amazing live features, New Xbox Experience, great achievement system that Sony tried to top.

I've said enough. :P

I used to own both too before I gave my older brother my PS3, it just couldn't top it, the only thing I actually used was the browser, the variety of games compared to Xbox was freakishly low and if I wanted a game on the PS3 I'd just get it for Xbox because I'd get achievements and stuff, so really was pointless. :P

Xbox went for online, that was it's main focus.
PS3 wont match Live for another 5-10 years.

It's great for movies, pictures & music if you are into other things other than gaming
Yep.. Playstation does that too.. and plays Blu Ray which if you didn't know, won the 'format war'.

it's fully functional for parents if they wanna put timers on and such
You can put parental safety on a PS3 as well..

it had a HDTV switch too for optimized gaming
It used to have that feature? Was it so crap they had to remove it??

20, 60 & 120 HDD's
PS3 can have upto 500GB HDD.. Possibly more if there are 2.5" HDDs that hold a bigger capacity.

amazing live features
You'd hope it is good seeing as you have to pay for Live

New Xbox Experience
Yep, now everybody can experience a Red Ring of Death :D!

great achievement system that Sony tried to top.
Yep, because getting achievements makes you so much cooler :8

I've said enough.
Well done :eusa_clap

Blu Ray is only decent for movies.

I doubt it's as customizable as on Xbox.

It's still on mine?

I'd rather pay for it then have a free system, atleast they can keep funding for it and making better improvements etc.

Yep, now everybody can experience a Red Ring of Death :D!

I've never encountered it. :S

Indeed it does ~ I'd rather have pointless trophies! :8

Well done :eusa_clap

Thank you.

And I love how you claim PS3 has never had any problems, Brandon's got a black screen the other week ;)

I wouldn't say that long, 2-3 years and the PSN will be where XBL is now I think.

I have a 120gb hdd :P
I put loads of music on it, and put decent enough games onto the hard drive. I also download xbox originals, so I put it to good use tbh :P

Yea PS3 has quite a few problems I've noticed, my uncle had to send his back because it over heated or something and completely messed up while downloading a demo a few weeks back, I've also never had RROD and I've had a 360 long enough, it's just never been a problem for me.

No, PSN will never match xbox live, if they move closer Microsoft will just move ahead again, they're just better at it than Sony are.

Yep, because getting achievements makes you so much cooler :8Every single Xbox 360 game and Arcade game includes achievements though and has done for the past 3 years, how long have Trophies been around? A few months and not all games have them.
