£500 upwards depending on the client, I try to avoid any freelance work now as I don't enjoy it as much and the rewards don't seem fulfilling.

Why would anyone pay £500 for a layout?

Don't make sense to me

I get £100 for a logo, so a whole layout can be £500, £1000 sometimes £5000+. You never set a price for a design/coding service. You never make enough that way, you build a price depending on the profit it will make the customer and how much that customer has in funding.

Oh i no people do pay it, i'm just saying it doesnt make sense to me to pay £500+ for a design.

Yes you may get the best but surly only big companys pay that sort of money?

not all, i got £180 for a logo i designed. The logo is just as important as the design because the design is what will make people want to go back for more.

Lol have you ever been paid £5000+

And tbh i think that PHP is more profitting than building layouts.

not necessarily. I could have been paid £3000 plus if i took up an offer to do all the coding and design.

In a way yes, a obviously Youmeo has some big clients we're doing work for but freelance no as I stopped when I got up to charging around £500. Takes a while to build up your price then research.

To be honest you have to build up a portfolio of designs before you can even think about charging the prices Greg does. Thats why a lot of people will choose RichardKnox over me as for one he is the better designer and two he has got a big big portfolio of designs.

For most people on here thats is good, and the standard is great, but some people want stupid money for crap designs.

No offence to anyone who tried selling a crap design for £50-£100

So theres definately a bit market in it :PThere will always be a big market in web design because if you look at how many websites are out there, and then look at how many websites want to attract users, the answer is there :P

500, 3000, 5000gbp is in a way still nothing. Big companies, such as, for example, belgium's brussels airport payed over 150.000 euro for the site alone (=132.309 GBP).

Then again, this is with the top of the business design companies. And know alot of companies dont just hire one design company, they hire like 4 or 5, who then have to work together to create the site. And don't forget everyone who worked on it has to get payed, so the price can go up fast.

(http://www.brusselsairport.be : design may look like 'yet another one of those' but don't forget these sites have massive systems and scripts behind it etc. for example buying tickets online, live feed of arrivals and departures etc etc )
(i know this because I know someone who worked on it)

EDIT: but yeah i suppose hxf-prices are like between 20 and 70/80 gbp I reckon, depending what the assignment was

Designing and coding is different though, for all that matters they could have the worlds best design and still have the scripts behind it all / intergrated in.
