Today, I could upgrade my phone so I phoned up and asked for the LG Renoir and the women said it was £127.00 for the phone, I was appalled at this because I looked early on www.orange.co.uk and if I joined as new customer under the same contract I currently have the phone was free? I did mention this and they agreed to do the phone for £77.00 and I still wasn't having any of it.

In the end, I've decided to wait until February and cancel my contract because I think its a disgrace that they will treat their existing customers so bad.

Rant over :P
Anyone else experienced problems like this?

Orange are rubbish. I rang up once to cancel a contract and they're like, that'll be £650. :S

You go on orange.co.uk, pay monthly, choose the LG Renoir, then Racoon 35 and see how much the phone is... then tell me its my mistake :)

I'm on Orange pay monthly, Dolphin 35, and tbh I've paid them more than enough in overcosts, once I had like a 120 bill lol. I bet they treat me like **** when that time comes though, which is why I'm probably going to wait until April, cancel on them, and then get an iPhone. :)

I think its normal to have to pay for an upgrade, but you get some money off the normal price of the phone.

When I was with Vodafone on a contract, I got a 350 quid phone for free. Says alot about Orange don't it.

Yeah, well, I know that but the thing is how comes does the new customer get it free and a existing customer of six years can't?

Orange arent the one phone company to of probably done the exact same,
except o2.
o2 are really good with rewarding exisiting customers.

my mum brought a new phone from o2 like 3 weeks ago, and it only cost like £60, pay as you go, and they gave her £40 free credit cause shes been with them so long.

I'm staying on o2, and hopefully next august when i get contract finished, i'll go onto iphone :) and hopes new iphone is out by then

They don't HAVE to give you anything.

It will probably go down on your credit status and if your bill paying every month is successful.

I used to be with Orange, then after they started getting gay and problematic I changed to T-Mobile who I've never had a problem with, and nor have the rest of my family. T-Mobile and O2 are the ones to go for in my opinion :D

But if you've been a customer for 6 years and pay the bill every month... They actually said over the phone that its because I never go over my bill? So basically, free phones if you spend more than your £35 a month. Its pathetic.

Thats because you wanted to cancel the contract, and you agreed to pay that when you signed the contract.

On O2 you get free phone upgrades when your contract is renewed, unless the phone is not 'free' on your tariff as though you were a new customer.

virgin are tidy on PAYG, when you send 5 texts you get the next 5 free, 5p texts to other virgin mobiles. When on a call for 5mins you get the next 5 free. When spending £100 on top-up you get £10 off a new phone. Ive got £40 off a phone over the past 2 years. Also if you top-up £10 in a week you get free texts all weekend(pretty crap but better than nothing I suppose)

Does anyone know if the Samsung G600 is any good!?
This seems to fit my topic and I'm looking at getting it with 02

Hasn't it always been that you only get a free upgrade when your contract is supposed to expire but you decide to extend it instead?
They can't just randomly give you a free £300 phone just cause you've been with them for long.

Their customer service is great.

I e-mail them and within 2hours I get a call from them and they sort out the whole problem for me on the phone within 10minutes :)

This is the first time, I always do it this way, they aren't losing out, I'm signing a 21 month contract instead of a 18 month contract... Is not so much about the pay, its the fact that new customers get it free and exsisting ones do not. Don't get me wrong, we have 3 contracts in our family with Orange but lately I feel like they are quiet far behind the other companies and if they didn't want to give out free phones, why let you upgrade 3 months early?

They have the right to charge you a reasonable amount for the rest of the months, it's probably averaged from your past months. Its a contracts isn't it, if you cancel it theres bound to be a set back of some sort.

They will have wanted £650 as a breaking contract fee, they want the amount of money they would be getting/even more and you did sign to say you would pay out.

The only thing I hate about Orange is talking to the Indian Call Centres cause they are no good to try and talk to for help.

It's also a pain cause in order to go onto an 18 month contract from my sim only contract I have to call up, and I can't understand a word they are saying. They should get their lives sorted out or they will lose out, O2 I hear are like the best.

EDIT: My 2000th post is a rant! Yay!

Rang them up again yesterday and got a more reasonable man. He said that their databases are messing up and he'll give us £100 off. But he's going to ring back tomorrow when they've sorted it out to discuss options. If I get it for £27, I'll pay that :P

Ive had no reception for the past 3 days. It's definetly an Orange area as I've never had problems. Indians are "passing it on"
