Wamp

This may be a technical problem but i know alot of web developers use it.

For some reason when i go to ipchicken.com, find my ip, type it in the address bar followed by the link to the directory the network times out.

There are 2 computers in my house and i dunno if they have the same IP or what, im no computer wizard in that respect.

I dunno if it's my router settings?

Any help will be appreciated

I don't really know, it works for me. I have a static IP though, so I'm not sure if that affects it. Try restarting if you've only just installed wamp.

Goto http://localhost/ or http://localhost:80/ (Apache)

instead of using your IP, that would make you have to configure an outgoing connection for the WAMP server.

Don't you know the basics of networking?

You need to setup a port-forward in your router for port 80 (or whatever port apache is listening on). The port needs to be forwarded to your network ip (local) which can be found by typing ipconfig in CMD.

Then after that you need to edit the httpd.conf to allow people from external connections to access that content, as by default its blocked to keep snoopers away. Todo this change "Deny from all" to "Allow from all" in the httpd.conf (there will be multiple entries).

Obviously i don't otherwhys i wouldn't be posting. I have never been in this situation.

All router allow it, just sometimes they use different names.

As Matt said, you have to port forward if you want other people to see your WAMP files.

It's very easy and there are a lot of website's dedicated to tutorials on port forwarding, just type in your router manufacturer and model number and there's most likely a guide for it.

A static IP doesn't reset when you turn your router off does it?

http://127.0.0.1

Or:

Go to Start
Run
cmd
tpe ipconfig/ all
look for IP ADDRESS
it might be something like 10.0.0.x

Go to that IP: http://10.0.0.x
nd there ya go.
