View Full Version : What download speed do you get, and how much are you paying?
Well I'm sick to death of my slow internet, so I was wondering what do you usually get?
When I'm downloading something, it downloads at 100kb/sec IF im lucky.
My mums paying £16.00 p/m for this.
Sadly, were only limited to one internet provider so we cant even change to another ISP.
So what download speed do you have, and how much are you paying?

10mb and dno
When your ISP says 8mb or 10mb, it means Megabit. Not Megabyte.
So whats that in megabytes..

8MB Internet = Recently been getting 1.2 - 2.0MBP/S from Rapidshare (using IDM so having 8 connections to them at once :P), I think we pay about £15
10MB internet = 1.2MB/s download speed peak
So pretty much, 10 times better than mine.

If you have decent routers it shouldn't make much difference :S. When you load a website, that connection probably had 20-30 routers between you and the server.
I'm also using two routers.

Orange
- I get about 6MB/s
- Pay for 6MB/s but they have it so we can receive 8MB/s if it becomes possible, with no extra cost.
- We have an Orange phoneline on the broadband line, so naturally the price is reduced.
It's about £20 or so.

Hardly any servers, including Rapidshare's, will allow you to download at 5MB per second.
Its not Megabytes, its Megabits, and RS still wont let you download at 5 megabits/s
