Hi guys,

I need your help - I've volunteered to be the DJ at my school's Christmas disco which aims to raise funds in aid of a project in Gambia. Today, I DJ'd for the lower school (11 - 14 year olds), playing whatever is in the charts, the modern classics, the classic classics, a few remixes/club tunes, dance classics (such as the Cha Cha Slide) and of course some Christmas favorites.

Tomorrow I will be DJ'ing for the upper school (which I believe is 14 - 18 year olds), there will be approximately 400 - 600 students with mixed tastes in music attending.

What I need you guys to do, is tell me which songs/bands/artists/genres/types of music you think would be best suited 14 - 18 year olds at a disco.

A friend of mine recommended I take a look at this list, so if you see any you think would get everyone up dancing and having a good time, please share them with me and the community:

Thanks guys, and Merry Christmas!

that list looks okay, just the popular ones will do.

There are so many bands on that list I had never heard of. Stick with what is popular now (check out Radio 1's playlist), and obviously the classics. Fun tracks, Christmas songs and a bit of cheese are excellent, but don't over do it; keep them mixed with what's contemporary and popular.

Thanks very much guys, aside from a few technical difficulties towards the end of the disco, it went superbly, and everybody had a great time.

Thanks, and have a very Merry Christmas.

Stick with classic dance tracks, with a combinations of chart-music, then add in a bit of Christmas music obviously. Depending on the "mood" of the crowd, add in some Pendulum / Andy C for a more "rave" dance.

ADD MOAR SOUNDGARDEN!!

Also this.

Because any dance without this song is an obvious failure.

That's funny.
Myself and my Friend did the DJing and Lights last night for the Year 7's.
Not bad considering free crunchies.. buttons and other selection box goodies were given out continuously all night..

Glad it all went well. :)
