Alexandra Burke has broken another record with her debut single 'Hallelujah'.

The X Factor winner has sold more downloads of her debut single in two days than the previous record set by Leona Lewis in a week.

The song was downloaded a total of 149,546 times in its first two days of release compared with Leona Lewis's previous record, which saw 139,000 copies of 'A Moment Like This' snapped up in seven days.

"Alexandra Burke has got off to a quite spectacular start with her recording of 'Hallelujah'," said The Official Chart Company's Mark Talbot.

"Every year's X Factor winner is battling to live up to the huge expectations raised by previous winners, and this year Alexandra is close to surpassing all of those expectations.

The song previously had the fastest ever one-day downloads across Europe.

"After just two days, she has already set another new landmark - selling more downloads in a week than anyone else on history - and could be on her way to breaking more records."

Burke's winning single 'Hallelujah' will be available physically in record shops from today.

I don't think Simon would quit Judging. Would anybody watch it without Simon?

It's his own show though he can do what he likes.

Leona set the record with Run a few week ago, not A Moment Like This. When AMLT was first released the main market was physicals anyway, this had rapidly changed and now downloads make up the bigger market. Regardless, at least Leona could set the record with a song released outside of The X Factor and didn't have 14 Million people following her for the last 10 weeks. Leona ftw :8!

In the UK she was Number 1 for 7 consecutive weeks with Bleeding Love, and in the US she was Number 1 for 3 or 4 non-consecutive weeks with it. In the US I remember she was #1 then the next week Madonna was #1, then the week after she was back on the top spot and kept getting knocked off and back up there :P! I dont think Alexandra will do too well in America, maybe she will in Europe but I don't think in America she will crack it.

She'll crack America.
Leona's opened that door now for all female X-Factor winners, the fact that Alexandra's more R&B will definetly help. Oprah will eat her up within a heartbeat of her entering the country..

i've already made my views on her, but i dont wish to start yet another argument over it.

all i can say is good luck to her, but i think europe is where she will stay.

i personally think she'll crack america, she is supporting beyonce in tour in the usa and uk next year and its been announced on beyonce official forums. BEYONCE IS MASSIVE, they see a star similar to her, even not as gd they'll be amazed! just you watch, you people saying she wont crack america, she'll probs not get a massive no1 as leona, but that was only leonas sucessful song in usa.. none of her others did..
if alex gets given the right material then good luck to her, shes a gd girl x

That is actually spot on, but 'AMLT' does have a record for having 50,000 downloads in 30 minutes :)

But yeah the download market is much much bigger than it was two years ago, it was even rare for a song to chart highly on downloads alone back!

Well done anyway Alex :)

LOL!
'Better In Time' charted at #11
Highly sucessful for the US charts, #3 on US radio charts, over 1 million downloads :)

& 'Run' which has had NO promotion in the US and was randomly released to iTunes this well had gone top twenty on iTunes :)

Yeah, I swear he was doing that for American Idol not the XFactor.

And tbf, she shouldn't get Christmas number1. It's annoying having the XFactor have it everyyear.

He refured to stepping down in several shows. I thought he would have said something in the end though but I'm not sure.

clearly, but i'm not ruling alexandra out yet though as she has a lot of potential. leona shouldn't be compared to these because she's primarily a vocalist above a performer though.
