Are there any new iMacs expected for first or second quarter of 2009?

I think I read they were going to upgrade the GPUs to Nvidia GPUs like in the MacBooks.

Not new iMacs as in design, but more then likely GPU etc. or internal updates.

Alright. I'm just making sure buying an iMac last week wasn't a totally stupid thing to do. So long as they don't release anything spectacular, though, I'm fine :P.

I'm thinking the new iMac will come out in the beginning of the second quarter. The only upgrades that I think they will do with the Mac is phase out Firewire and replace it with USB 3.0. One of Apple's "green goals" are to replace the LCD displays with low powered LED's according to the site MacUser. I heard they're phasing out the Core chips and replacing them with Nehalem, too. Besides that, some OS X updates are probably going to show up as well.

I wouldn't worry, the iMac looks pretty damn sexy as it is. I really can't see any way they can improve the iMac's exterior.
All that might happen is a new processor, GPU updates and LED-backlit display (seen as that's what they seem to be going for). So basically you're going to be fine.
Mac OS X 10.6 might come out, but you can upgrade to that without having a new machine. :P

USB 3.0 won't be seen in consumer products like the iMac for at least another year, maybe even two. Also, Apple wouldn't phase out Firewire from the iMac line, too many people still use it. It was havoc when they took it away from the new MacBooks. Plus, Apple did originally invent Firewire so they won't get rid of it for a long time from now.
