Why can't Manchester have the money to expand our tram system?

I'm not an environmentalist by any stretch of the imagination but a third runway isn't needed.

I did not intend to state you where, however that is what will happen once the plans are released. Or soon, as i don't know much about i at the moment.

But in order to continue it's rapid expansion they need to be able to land/takeoff more aircraft in a day, and that can only be done by the use of another runway.

There is a good argument to this, because for Heathrow to have a third runway, houses will have to be knocked down. Meaning many people around that area will be affected. Although Heathrow does need this runway, if you see the amount of planes that take off and land a day, imagine it in the future.

Why can't Manchester have the money to expand our tram system?Because that is a totally different matter, Heathrow Airport is mostly used as a 'Via' destination (People fly in from around the world and then catch another flight to Europe) and it's mostly international flights, unlike the Manchester tram system which is local to the city of Manchester and has little to do with their international transport budget.

I personally believe that the expansion to Gatwick uncovered this Morning is far more beneficial. It would mean Gatwick would grow bigger than Heathrow, 1/5th less homes would be disrupted by the additional air pollution too.
