Yeah i went shopping and on the way back my corsa lost all acceleration, and wouldn't start, me being 30 miles away from home. I got my dad to come and tow me, damn that wasn't a pleasant experience.
Recharged the battery and everything today but it's still knackered, i tried it earlier and it started fairly alright but as soon as i gave it some acceleration it died. Anyone got any ideas? Iv'e had a look on there internet and a few people have said it could be fuel filter or air flow, doesn't seem like engine problems to me

I did too! I was driving my moms gs300 and the engine was knocking very loud so I took it to lexus and they were like you can't drive this!

coil pack? ht leads? throttle positioning sensor?
are there any warning lights on the dash?

the check engine light was on in mine, aswell as the vsc (vehicle stability control), but for the last 20000 miles it's been on and hasn't done anything how the car drove.

I had a look at it last night, replaced the fuel filter fuse and a few others, started it and it sounded fairly alright, put my foot on the gas and it didn't cut out but was coughing pretty loud. I'm thinking replace fuel filter and possibly pump, see what happens. Anything but taking it to the garage! thanks for replies :)

That's Vauxhalls for ya... My mum's 57-plate Zafira SRi has had an endless string of faults, from vibrating steering wheels to even the boot opening at completely random times by itself!
Luckily, nothing's gone wrong with my dad's new Vectra! (yet)

There's no warning lights. I bought a new fuel filter last night and fitted it, but it didn't make much difference. Gonna replace the relay fuse then look into the pump and airflow, after that i'm lost and i'll probably give up and take it to a garage :S
The engines still starting relatively ok, but pretty loud, and vibrating alot. But when i put my foot on the gas or put it in gear it starts spluttering and will die eventually.

Here there, Had a same problem with my brothers car, it was just spitting and farting and chucking white smoke out.. Turned out he put diesel in instead of petrol. :) Might be something to checkout?
Failing that check plugs are all getting a good spark and spray some wd40 on the leads because they might be damp

yeah mine sounds abit like that.
it's 1998 1.4, and no i didn't put diesel in it ;)
I replaced the plugs yesterday and it started alot sharper, i could put it in reverse and 1st gear and move a little, but it died out if i went any further than that.
I have a friend who tells me theres a high chance it will be one of the sensors has gone. I'm gonna buy a haynes manual and have a look at replacing all the sensors, shouldn't cost too much from scrappy. I look into coil pack too cheers :)

this has happened to me many times most of the time its because of the damp and so fuel isnt pumped properly which causes fuel starvation.

I replaced the fuel pump the other day and it still didn't work!
So i gave up and took it to the garage, they seem to think it'll be the head gasket but i wont find out until friday :( Looking at atleast 200-300 quid they said.

Not that iv'e noticed, but it's been pretty static in my garden for the last week so i probably wouldn't notice if it did. It's at the garage now anyway

Hmm, turns out it was the camshaft that went :S
wasn't expecting that. Looks like it has gone before and was abit of a bodge job when i got it. Cost me 370 quid :(
