How do you get a cough?

It's mucus in the throat on your cilli or sommint... You can catch it just by someone sneezing on you tbh, or touching something that someone else with a cold has. You don't have to come into direct contact I think.

well i lost my voice on wednesday and its still not back completely and ive had a cough and i think thats from all the dust in my house atm as its being renovated!

lozenge perhaps?
