Im noticing now with a lot of animes they are being no longer fansubbed and done professionally. A few example of this would be Naruto and recently I've found out Gintama from Ep138 onwards, they will be hosted on Crunchyroll.
Your thoughts?

Ye I heard something about this a while ago too. There's going to be some new system where you'd have pay to download the episodes that were professionally subbed rather than free fansubs. If that is the case then it'll be annoying because it's not THAT hard to find good fansubs.

dattebayo have always said that if they were to be subbed legally they would stop and thats what they have done. this is to fight against ppl who download or watch series and dont buy the dvds lol. this way your paying for it. anyway. Series like naruto will be free after a week with adverts.

It's crap though because I do buy the DVDs, I just wait till show is finished then buy it as a whole rather than buying them as they are released so why should I have to pay to DL them as well :'(

It's good for us who watch unpopular series.

I don't really care what happens as long as anime still gets subbed and is viewable on the interwebz. I'll always prefer fan subs though, because they're funnier, more accurate and faster than official subs. Although many fan subbers are faster, waiting a week for an episode of Gintama isn't going to kill me though. You can buy some VIP thing on Crunchyroll that allows you to watch new episodes 24 hours after they've been aired in Japan though, and in high definition. I'm somewhat tempted to buy it, but again, I don't mind waiting. I hope the official subbers still add notes and stuff when the anime refers to something Japanese, or parodies another Japanese programme, manga or something. Which seems to happen atleast five times each episode in Gintama. I'll be pissed if they don't do that, it will kinda ruin the anime.

They'll have to add them otherwise people will raise the issue that why should they pay for an inferior service.

Im gonna be pissed if I have to pay to watch Gintama and Naruto.
Im sure someone will find a way to download off Crunchyroll and put it on Veoh.

You'll just have to pay if you want to watch them as there released. Otherwise you'll still get to watch them but you'll need to wait a week after they're released to do so. Even though they are free it will be annoying having to wait. As you say though people will probably download the new subbed episode then reupload it before the official free release.

Just found out that the official subs are going to be Americanised and will probably have NO translator notes. That's not so bad for Naruto, but Gintama is an anime that only works in Japanese and since now there might not be translator notes, no one is going to understand the references and parodies that occur in EVERY episode!

NOOOO.
I love the Japanese translator notes, what about kage bushin no jutsu or rasengan.

Yeah, what's up with dattebayo atm?
Naruto was meant to finish on like, the 15th or something wasn't it?
And Bleach hasn't been done yet...

Dattebayo have been told to stop subbing Naruto, and there was no Bleach last week.

By who? :S
They were voluntarily going to finish on the 15th, which is like when the professional subbing starts. Why've they been told now?
