Hi,

I was just wondering if we could have a subforum in the Apple & Macintosh section called 'iPods and iPhones' or something because it just seems to be flooded with the same threads. I know it is for stuff related to Apple but it's all just the same thing, buying advice for iPods, jailbreaking iPods and discussing iPods. It would really clean this section up if we got an iPod/iPhone subforum for it.

I agree, it would be nice to differeniate (sp?) the forums, as if i'd like a discussion re. OS X or iMacs, I woulnd't like the forum flooded with iPod.

It's not common habbox practise to have subforums inside subforums because they're so out of the way they get forgotten about.

Obviously they won't if we have 12 iPod/iPhone posts on the first page. It will be used.

If it was 12 active threads per day I could understand your point, but the threads you highlighted are active over a period of 7 days, not exactly a buzz of activity :P

It's fine as it is imo.

How about tags like in the Habbo news forum.

Agree'd.

Tags are also a good idea.

Oh yeah prefixes are fine, I'm sure if people want them we can get something set up :)

Another idea could potentially be to create a sub-forum in Technology Discussion called 'MP3 Players & iPods' similar to the Mobile Device's sub-forum within that section. However I'm unsure on how popular it would be but I think this would be the most efficent way to clean things up.

Creating the sub-forum for MP3 Players & iPod could spark up more talk because before there was a Mobile Devices forum there wasn't too much discussion.

Or have something like iPods/MP3 Players & MobilesI guess it could then become Portable Device's, MP3s, iPods, Mobiles and Smartphone/PDAs

I didn't say it because of that, i said it because he was doing it to annoy me.

I disagree, the forum isn't flooded by them at all :S Besides, that's the only action that forum ever gets. That likes suggesting the Nintendo section gets a new section called "Wii." If the pages were filled entirely with iPod threads, then maybe, but that's not even a good reason, because like I said, that's mainly what the reason is behind the forum...

Heaven forbid the Mac being popular:rolleyes:. Every post in that section is not about ipods. There could easily be two different sections, and both could have a fair amount of posts.

Just because someone doesn't post in a specific section, doesn't make their opinion any less important.

Surely the fact that the Mac isn't popular in the forum in the first place is a sign that there's no point in seperating and dividing the forum up? If both were incredibly popular, as in, loads of Mac discussions and loads of iPods discussions, then there would be a reason to divide them, which is why the Console Games forums has Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony - They're incredibly popular catagories. iPod(s) on the other hand aren't, because they're just on product in the Apple forums. Heck, the only things you can really talk about when it comes to Apple are either lawsuits or iPods and Macs :P

Indeed, an outsiders opinion is equally if not more important. You cans ee what's messy and what's not :P

If he doesn't post in the section, he wouldn't know that it's "fine as it is".

There are enough posts about the Mac, and enough posts about iPods to split the two into individual categories.

He can easily visit that section and take a peek over it.

Just because he doesn't post there doesn't imply that he doesn't know anything, or that opinion matters any less.

So what? He doesn't post in that section.. maybe he doesn't have a need to, but he has enough common sense to be able to visit the section and form an opinion on whether or not there are 'too many' threads of a sort..

He can see how the section is at its current state, yes. I doubt he'd intentionally go back pages and pages to see what the section is like.

Just because he doesn't post doesn't mean he doesn't view, yeah. But it's just unlikely that he'd been watching the section for a sufficient length of time without making posts.

Obviously users who are constantly posting in this section would know better as opposed to users that are not.

I can agree and disagree with those points, either way.

I still don't think it was needed for you saying 'I've hardly ever seen you post in the section...', like you're trying to say: "Who the hell do you think you are? Trying to get in on this when you hardly ever post there.. your opinion doesn't matter".

I just don't think it was needed ;)

[Mac]
[iPod]
[iPhone]

or something like that.

Go for it, because you really can't tell what it's on about by the product name.

On another note Dell XPS One.

Not really, looking at the section now, there isn't a days worth of forum topics based on Macs and iPods, let alone in individual topics :/ And because we're in the holidays, you would expect that forum to be incredibly busy. So no, there is no reason to split up the section, when the forum isn't even crowded in busy times. Unless you're that lazy to scroll down a fraction.... :/

Oh goody I save myself a reply! Gomme sums it up very nicely. Unless the situation changes the status quo will remain.

But nearly every thread is about the iPod touch. It's either when is it going to be jailbroken or what's the difference. All of the are the same..

That'll make a new forum incredibly pointless. If the current forum isn't over run with day to day threads about iPods, then there is no need for a sub-forum. The forum at the moment hasn't even got a full page of 27/12/2008 threads. I think the last time I checked there were like 4 days of threads in page 1, maybe even more. Without the iPod threads, there will be a whole months worth of threads in page 1 alone :/
