Right today I bought a Belkin Wireless G Adapter so I can use my wireless internet upstairs, I had to install the CD into the upstairs computer but the CD Drive isn't reading the CD.

I tried inserting several CD's and the same problem was occurring, does anyone know why? I really need to set this up asap.

The CD Drive upstairs is RICOH.

Thanks, every advice given will be awarded with +REP :)

There could be many reasons for your CD drive not working,

First of all, i would like to ask you a couple of questions

How Old Is the CD Drive
What Make/Model is it
Where did you buy it
Is the latest driver installed

Thank you,
Kevin

Right, Somtimes CD drives can die from old age/ware and tare, and since you did not buy from a retailer, and i presume that you dont have the
approperate documents from the orgional store purchased, So your warrenty is preety much *****, and since it could be up to five years old i wouldent say that the warrenty could still be valid with a recipt.

What i would do is download the driver, when you locate the model from here:
http://www.ricoh.com/downloads/

But apart from that, CD Drives arnt really fixable and can be quite cheap and replacible I reccomend ebuyer.com for there very competitive prices

Thank you,

Here is the driver (http://www.ricoh.com/drive/asia/support/download/mp7083a_w/)

You could also open up the case and visually dont touch anything, see if it is still attached firmly

EDIT:

I thought i might also make this suggestion
This CD/DVD Drive is quite cheap and also includes a licence of Nero, an advanced copying software (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142275),
I recently ordered one of these for my custom build, there internal
