IP's come with the computer. I think the only way to change it is to do it via a proxy?
I'm not sure though. Anyone got any clues? :S

Which Router do you have?
You can simply login to your Router and change settings.
Dynamic/ Static

You can just unplug you're router and leave it for 10 mins then turn it back on and it will assign you a NEW IP.

No need for the 10 minutes but restarting/rebooting/unplugging and plugging in again your router will reconnect you to the internet and if you have a dynamic IP address (most likely) it will change your IP address.

Command prompt
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
Try that
Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Right click your connection, select properties ->
This connection will use the following items:
or similar should be display on tht window
Scroll down to protocol you are using (TCP/IP, in most cases) click and select properties
Now you can choose to either obtain it automatically, or set your own IP address, subnet mask etc..
Now you can enter your own IP address that you want to assign to your machine but make sure it doesnt conflict with other computers IP's on your network
I am using Windows XP, shouldn't be a whole lot different for Vista.
I found this picture on the internet it should help.

Again would only reset internal IP if behind router which presumably 99% of people are

If your using a router that would only change your internal IP (ie 192.168.2.4 to 192.168.2.6)

IP's come with modem/ISP not your computer lol

If you're on a modem (not behind a router) do this:
Control Panel > Device Manager
Then open cmd, tap in ipconfig /all
Look for this:
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . :
Get the physical address from that.
Now head back to device manager.
Open up the "Network Adapters" submenu and right click on the adapter. (I assume you're smart enough to know which adapter it is if you have many)
Choose properties, then click "Advanced", then "Network Address", take your physical address, i.e:
00-2C-3B-C4-55-A4
and change it to:
002C3BC455A4
(just remove the dashes)
now increase the number at the end by one:
002C3BC455A5
put that in the box and click ok (after selecting "value")
please note: don't use my hardware id I made it up it wont work. bam new ip, you will have to disable / renable the adapter and possibly reconnect the modem power.
ooo i thought he wanted internal lol
