gigabyte is only your internal network is has nothing to do with your internet speed. You can't run a shoutcast of that at all. Your isp doesn't give you that kinda of bandwidth/

Well you need a large upload speed for shoutcast. 10 x 64Kbps slots or 20 x 32Kbps slots. Something like that is all you could do.

you need bandwidth to run a shoutcast server, my orginal post was answering your question. you can't run nothing of that upload and you probably don't have the bandwidth to do it anyways.

Surely if you can afford 50MBPS broadband I think you can buy or rent a decent Shoutcast server? :P

Even when you get 50MBPS Broadband I bet you'll still only get 1MBPS upload speed.

The highest possible upload on Virgin (20mb) is 768k.

God I hate seeing people who seems like very 'newbie'ish (I'm not trying to offend him) with amazing download speeds, I do so much downloading and only get 2meg. I get upto 8 meg but we're so far away from the telephone exchange. :/ ugh

You don't really need a good download speed as long as you have a fairly low contention ratio and know how to use your connection.

Just leave it on overnight downloading stuff. 2Mbps means 700-800MB of stuff per hour.

I don't/am not allowed to keep my PC on over night. It uses loads of power too and my Mum just gets pissed off.
