Hey,

So I phone up AOL support because I am getting a crap speed (400kbps >.>) and get greeted by a automated message that says they are closed. I am informed they are closed xmas day but open as normal every other day over xmas/new year.

So lets go over this again and make sure I got it right:

- NOT xmas day - CHECK
- Within normal opening hours (6am-midnight) - CHECK

But still I am told they are closed xmas day but open as normal all other days over xmas/new year.

>.>

When they do actually feel like opening it won't be to inquire why my speed is crap it will be for a MAC code.

You will get as much help from AOL support as you would telling a dog to act human and get a job.

Yeah I'm not a fan of AOL. Best bet to get the Mac code and get your bum out of there! :)

I've had a lot of problems with them, I only solve my issues when I speak to an Irish person. But the Indians in Luxembourg never resolve issues.

(I'm not being rude)

But that's really strange. - Better of emailing.

The other day on a Sunday all servers were down for most of the day, and I get a response of: Our technical engineers are on-site and working through

Probably just one person :|

Yeah I had that problem as well. Tried to use their live support since I cba to wait 48 hours for a email which I may or may not get and may or may not be of any use to me only to find out that the live support is not available as well >.>

There is another step in your way, even after you DO get the MAC code and slap AOL around the face, try getting it COMPLETELY off your computer without it coming back in the future and biting you in the ass until you resign and look at another stupid offer the have.

At least, my grand parents were unable to do that :P

I use Linux so I can't even install the crappy AOL software even if I wanted to.

If you get through to someone, AOL support is fine.

However, it is boxing day so they may still not be offering support, perhaps until Christmas is completely over.

Good for you! AOL shall not be anywhere near my computer, not crappy software form or one of their cheap-o disks.

Don't they have a web panel to request the MAC code? With Eclipse we can log in and request it to have it in under an hour.

LOL, if AOL made something that easy it would have to be at an extra cost lol

My dad phones up and asks for somebody english, because we always get the same... "Restart your router... Check the phone line... type in these login details into your router"

The irish ones always manage to sort it first time after explaining the problem

With virgin, when ringing for support if we get the indians we get the same response... "There is a problem in your area and our technicians are currently trying to fix it"

I think you'll find if they're not indian they are Scottish not Irish... "Just give your wee router a wee reboot now and with the new wee settings it'll be wee fine."
