We are short of money and my £700 PC plans have gone down the drain unfortunatley, now I have a top budget of £500 for a PC.

I wanted quad core and decent ram as I usually have alot of windows open and memory eating applications such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver but I'm unsure on if I'll be able to get it.

I need a monitor and accessories with the PC, and I have no experience of building my own PC, but I could if there was a decent guide. (Probably not for me).

So if you could find me whole packadges with decent specs for £500 or less, or just recommend parts, then that would be great.

You will need to go to the links yourself, just use the quick codes on ebuyer.

Unfortunately no monitor, you'll have to try and find something.

I'm going to get flamed for posting a full desktop PC but anyway :P

This has everything you want and it's a pretty good deal too.

Bare in mind this has an OS and monitor (keyboard and mouse too) unlike the custom-build above.

You need to replace yours twice a year because
A: You are on it 24/7
B: All that child porn broke your computer

And if anyone doesn't get this, read the thread in Teen life. Pretty disturbed person imo.

stick it in your sig or something, saves wasting my time reading your crap posts, please stay on topic aswell.

Build a dell PC, you could get a good one for that, get a screen from ebuyer though, Dell screens are expensive

My 17" widescreen monitor from dell was only 90 pounds.

I got my custom setup january 2008 from dell, vista, 4gigs ram, 19" widescreen, core 2 duo 2.33ghz processor, 500GB hdd and also a geforce 8500GT graphics card which i bought seperately for £25. It ended up at about £535 and i'm sure it will be a lot cheaper now. Handles big programs with ease and also gaming is nothing short of good. the card can be overclocked to 600mhz easily without needing more cooling and it has only ever broken down once when the hard drive failed.
It gets a rating of 5.2 (the lowest is the processor) and once i got 5.3 from it when i pushed it a bit further.

Recommended.

I wouldn't go with hp cos they are a pain in the backside. They don't send you the os disk so rebooting is a pain in the ass, eventually the computer freezes randomly and since Tom is looking to keep this computer for a while i'm sure its not a good choice.

I'm probably going to buy 2 of the Mesh's. One for me and one for downstairs.

Why isn't it good? Do you think he needs a 1200 WATT PURE POWER MILLION RAILS PSU?

scottish

No he needs a non-budget PSU that won't blow every component if it dies.

I know for sure if my PSU died, i'd rather it take itself (say £70) rather than about 800 quid of stuff.

So its basically a case of spend 30 quid more, save 800 quid, spend 0 more waste 800 quid. I know my choice.

Dunno if this has been posted, but this is the PC I just bought. It's quad core and has 4GB of RAM. It's very fast. Nice big HDD, comes with a nice 20" screen.

Intel® Core 2 Quad Q8200 processor
2.33GHz, 1333MHz FSB, 4MB Cache
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
4GB DDR2 667MHz memory
640GB SATA hard drive (7200rpm)

£489.34 including VAT.

EDIT: It has been posted... somebody said don't get HP when quoting the link to the Packard Bell... as far as I know HP isn't Packard Bell. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Packard Bell is a subsidiary of Taiwan-based Acer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acer_Inc.).
