Okay, so the new PC I got for christmas is using a Gigabyte MA78G-DS3H Mobo with an AMD Phenom x4 Proccessor and 4GB ram.

Problem is, when loaded onto windows (Vista x64) it doesn't see the usb, so when anything is plugged into it, it gives power but doesn't recgonise the connection.

Any ideas? Microdirect say that there is nothing wrong with the Mobo.

try in the bios to see if USB are disabled :)

Which mobo

ones on case or ones at back.

Have you installed all the drivers (check the Device Manager program) is there any uninstalled drivers (will have a yellow !)

If theres no uninstalled drivers, the USB ports are on the mobo then it will be a mobo problem, maybe damaged chip or something.

Im not stupid enough to have it disabled in the BIOS, as for the drivers, it would seem that they are all installed, and the Mobo has been tested and came out as fully functional. none of the USB work, front or back.

Retailer will just say that to cover em.

Just tell them you checked another mobo and it worked fine, so it is mobo problem and they'll send another probably.

Went to the actual shop, and as I bought it less than 28 days ago I could just demand a replacement anyway, so I don't think they're lying.

If you get a replacement you'll know for sure, and theres no problem with it, not as if it costs you or anything so.

Just irritating, as they're just going to say theres no problem. Now turns out the Proccessor is goosed as some of the pins are bent. Nightmare.

That wouldn't affect usb, if processor pins were bent it wouldnt work.

Thats what I mean, I had to take the mobo out, and in doing so bent a row of pins, now it wont work at all -.-'

As entrance says, just bend them back. I've did this plenty of times, bended them back, and everything worked out all right. Good luck! ;)

My guess is it is something to do with the Mobo. Keep contacting Microdirect, you might get a helpful operator.

My dead GigaByte did this... in the end Novatech took it back and replaced it.

Fixed the proccesor, evertything is working again now, still no USB though. Annoying. Going to leave it with my uncle who is a computer technician and see if he can fix it.
