Hey,

After using N!cks amazingly amazing tutorial for DVD to AVI, I needed something to get that AVI to MP4 so I can play it on my iPod.

I tried Videora but it just gets jammed on 99% for ages (like 5hrs).
WinFF is just too slow.

Any suggestions please? +rep to good ones.

Thanks,
Robbie

How long does it usually take from start to finish for you?

for my ipod touch, takes about 30 - 40 minutes give or take for roughly a 2hour film.

it does have settings for the ipod touch though and when i tried to do it in an mp4 format for my dads non-ipod it took longer. Much faster when i do it for my ipod rather than his sony thing

Sorry for double post but I'm using Aimersoft iPod Converter 1.8, 1hr 35mins it says. Must just be my crappy processor.

Yeah it varies greatly with processor speed. If you're not doing anything else go into task manager and set that process to high priority, it should get it done a bit faster. I wouldn't advise it if you're doing anything else though.

hmm, i have a core 2 duo, 2GB RAM. I dont know, maybe its the file type because youre not using the dvd format youre using the AVI one right? it varies what you are converting from and to what. must just take longer from AVI to Itunes MP4 than it does for .IFO (i think) to Itunes MP4

I chose the iPod format that makes the size 600 and odd mb. The iPod Touch one is 1gb a file and my iPods only 8gb. idc about quality THAT MUCH really.

yeh but i mean like, it depends what its converting from. It sounds like youre using the suite rather than the DVD ripper (the one i suggested) so its converting from the already converted AVI format rather than straight from the DVD.

ahh, its probably just the length then. Shorter films will do it faster... obviously :P

good choice btw
