View Full Version : Best Linux for me?

I have:
pentium 4 2.6 ghz.
512 ram
80 gb harddrive.

I want something that will offer the ease of use that windows offers but easier on the computer what are the linux alternatives to:
Internet: firefox is firefox.
Msn?
Word?
does belkin have linux drivers for there wireless cards?

I think Fedora might be best, not quite sure though.
I'll send you my installation for Linpus Linux Lite if you want?
It comes with aMSN, Firefox and some kind of Word Application.

Ubuntu is good, not sure what minimum specs are...

My Acer Aspire One had 512MB Memory and Linpus Linux Lite working speedily, which I think is based off Fedora;
Then again, no Linux installation can demand more than 512MB surely?

Fedora I'd say! I used it on my laptop it's a great Linux distro. :D

If your changing from Windows to Linux then I would say go with Ubuntu. Also I have had problems getting fedora to install. (Won't let me login after installation, I tried 5 times on 3 different downloads and disc burns)

Three I would recommend in no particular order:

Fedora
Ubuntu
LinuxMint (Edited Ubuntu - http://linuxmint.com/)

Gentoo Linux is your most obvious choice.
