Tragic story.

If the train was that close to the crossing then the barriers should have came down early so things like that don't happen, in weather like this as cars can just slide.

Certainly.

Terrible, but she should have just abandoned the car. Sure, you think you have a minute to get out of there with your car, but it was slippery... the track seems straight so she would have seen the train, why didn't she just get out and run...?

If I was in a car on a train track I'd try and get the car off, but if I saw the train coming towards me I'd leg it.

Ah well, R.I.P.

She may of feared for the lives of the train driver and passengers. It's one option. The other is she didn't wnat her car destroyed, which would be odd...

Indeed she could have, but if it was slippery and the train was approaching fast then it's going to be obvious she wont get it to budge and should just get out of there. I reckon the latter is probably right, I saw a video on TV where the woman wouldn't leave her car (she was on a train track with the car)... she finally left it and it was smashed to bits.

It says she tried reversing it before it was struck, but that could mean anytime between getting stuck in the barriers and getting hit by the train. Indeed it could be because she wanted to be with her car, but it doesn't sound all that amazing :P

Hmm that's the other thing, where I used to live in the UK if you were stuck between the barriers you couldn't get out (unless you jumped). So if the barriers are the same there then she wouldn't of got out with her car anyway... and yeah, her car didn't sound great, some old rover... :P

She might of been trying to move it just a bit out the way of the train but on the tracks still, like on the track next to the approaching train. It's a shame we may never know...

Says a lorry driver tried to help her somehow?

Says a lorry driver tried to help her somehow?Well she crashed into a van which caused the problem but they were going to help her, I'm pretty sure they couldn't of helped in time though. Anyway everyone on the train was alright which is good but it's not surprising she didn't run as anyone would be panicing so much they wouldn't be thinking properly.

This weather does so many bad things, or stops people from doing good.. Someone should have been quicker to save her...

This weather does so many bad things, or stops people from doing good.. Someone should have been quicker to save her...No it was very quick as it was, what could of anyone done? They could of told her to get out the vehicle and run but she'd be panicking too much. If they tried to do anything else we'd be looking at more than one death.

It's a shame that the barriers weren't down long enough. In some areas, they purposely have them down for well over 2.5 minutes before a train e.g. Canterbury. But I guess it depends where the crossing is.

Well, the barriers go down 1 minute-30 seconds before a train comes so you must of been going at a speed and knew the train was coming.
