You changed the post after i posted :P

Prefix is like the [CSS] or [Big Brother] stuff so it'd be like [Win 7] or something.

I know what he meant scott :D

there is like 10 threads on it (first page) already and it will probably increase once everyone downloads the beta.

This certainly is a trend that will die down. Plus the first page of threads dates back to December 24th. That's about two and a half weeks. I think you'll be fine :P

Soem other prefix's are hardly used during some times? like strictly come dancing is only on a set time during the year? big bro etc same..

It's hardly alot of work to add the extra prefix and also helps users understand when someone posts whether its about W7/Vista/Xp etc.

It wont be a quick trend as the beta has been delayed, so care to rethink your answer?

Just make an official thread on it.

Just make an official thread on it.

Isn't that rather stupid though, thats just like saying delete all big brother threads and remove the prefix, just make a official big bro thread, or remove every css thread and make one official CSS thread? :/

No, just no.

Wow, its amazing how people can get so worked up and be so rude and patronising in an online discussion about a prefix to a thread name.

I do think nvr's argument would stand if we were creating a subforum but a prefix would benefit the forum no matter how little it was used, not just here but in any forum.

Nvr, it's not a TV show; It's an operating system that is has only just become a beta. The fact that it could take another year for it to come out means it won't just die down - and it's been discussed by plenty for over the past few months. I think I prefix would suit.

If you were referring to me, i wasn't get worked up nor rude, i just showed my view on the persons suggestion. ;)

Prefix is needed imho.

Hmmm, I can't see much point. If people are going to talk about Windows 7, the thread titles should have it mentioned.

I'm a little confused, why does it matter if there's loads of Windows 7 threads? There's loads of Vista and XP threads too but no one's asking for Prefix's for them.

I don't see the need for them but if there's going to be prefixes I think XP, Vista, Windows 7, Internet Explorer & Office all deserve them.

There should be prefixes like this-

[Vista]
[Windows 7]

No XP one because XP is out dated.

seems like a good idea imo :)

Outdated yet being sold on new machines. Has as much case for a prefix as 7 and vista imo.

A vast majority of people still use XP, not everyone has the money to update to Vista or buy a new comp with it so I think their will always be a need for it too :D

If they didn't give the Apple forum even a Mac / ipod prefix, I don't think the Windows forum will get a Windows 7 prefix.

What do you mean if they didn't give it even a Mac? Being another fan-boy and demanding your OS superior?

(btw don't call me out for being a mickey fan boy, I run OS X)

I think all forums should get relevant prefixes.

I don't remember us even considering it :S If we haven't thought about ideas we clearly aren't going to have implemented them are we? :P

Give it a prefix, means if i look at the threads i dont have to view it do know if i want to read it :P

And XP is not out dated. I still run it, and I have had a new pc sicne vista, but at the time i preferred XP.

[Vista]
[Windows 7]

No XP one because XP is out dated.

...but what about [Media Player] and [Windows Mobile] and [Vista Server] and [Windows Live] and [Media Centre]... the list goes on.

What's wrong with putting "Windows 7" somewhere in the title of the thread?
