Ergh I don't like it, it took me a few seconds to work it out as you show it with a white background (it looks lots better on black), and it seems to be the Google Gears/Chrome logo with the classic Google 'G' on top of it. The G is just a mess though.

Offtopic: F5 on its own works fine, no need for ctrl. :eusa_clapCTRL clears Cache which was needed in more traditional browsers such as IE 5 if you wanted a total refresh but in Firefox 3 I'm not sure whether it's much use anymore, no harm in trying.

Nope, I certainly didn't, I thought it was just some sort of modern art :P

Its certainly eye catching, and any publicity is good publicity and all that so I suppose just by us debating it it's done its job.

Yeah, same here. I only noticed the G on the tabs probably in FF. I can't notice it that much as an actual favicon in the URL bar.

Your previous comment was really rude, you shouldn't assume that you're correct without reviewing the information you have first, I would be pretty offended by that if you commented that on my post instructing people how to refresh the favicon. A lot of browsers have this bug, where it doesn't reload without clearing the cache, the favicon has to be the worst thing to work with IMO.

According to the Google Blog (http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/googles-new-favicon.html), the new Favicon is based on this image:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7ZYqYi4xigk/SWfAtLjid1I/AAAAAAAACOU/4-mq3SGshy0/s320/Favicon_Andre.png

That looks a lot better than the final design :P

Nothing special :P I don't visit Google homepage anyway, I just use the toolbar on FireFox.
