Hey there!
It's has been a while since I posted on here, but I thought I would update you on my latest long running project.
In laymen's terms, it is a simple forum.

Give me some criticisms and compliments please :)
I forgot to mention that only one person can be logged into the user at once, as this is the way the authentication works. I will disable it.
Jake.

RichardKnox is an amazing designer. I don't like the fact that "Home" is selected on whatever page you go on :)

Hey,
I wasn't sure what do to with the hover over thing, so I am going to disable it for the home. Thanks for the feedback.
And yes, I haven't done the User Control Panel yet :)
Jake.
Edit: Hover over removed for home.

My server is crap. It's under a lot of load at the moment from other users grr.
And maybe, I haven't decided yet. :P

Quote doesn't work when you post.
I will host it for you if you need to?

Rather than giving it out free, I would sell it to a site which wants a custom forum, you could get quite a bit for that I think.

Not everything is about money.. It's nice to be generous sometimes and work on coding skills etc.

If hes got the skills then why shouldn't he get payed for it? I assume he payed Richard for the design too, you don't want to loose money on things like this.

Hey, thanks for the offer. I will consider switching host after my contract expires.
And I will look at the quote problem, probably me just messing with the templates and causing mayhem :P

I've given out lots of freebies before including 2 forums (which weren't perfect because I was younger and couldn't be bothered). This time I am making a big effort to make it as best I can.

I sort-of agree with you. I can code, I don't need practice at doing it. I am doing this project in an around my exams to cool me down a bit if I get stressed.
I haven't fully decided what I am going to do with it yet, but 2 of my options are to release it opensource and free (probably under Creative Commons) or sell it to a site who wants a custom forum.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Keep it coming :)

Will there be a multi quote feature?
Jackboy

Tbh, if you chuck in basic feature then give away free.
If you do some advanced template editing etc, then sell.

Yes. I think I will implement such a feature when I code the newreply.php page :)

Nice idea. However the template editing is pretty advanced already. It is similar to VBulletins where the templates are stored in a database and have the $variablename which substitutes. It also has an <if condition="whatever"></if> simple usage and all the English you see on the forum is stored in a phrase table to multiple languages can be used.

Maybe there could be a basic version, and a pro/premium version.
Basic would be free, premium would cost.

That's not a bad idea. I will consider it. Thanks :)

The problem would be that it doesn't match up to free forums such as PHPBB (no offence). PHPBB has spent years in development and has hundreds of layouts, scripts etc. I think someone would buy it for a custom forum but not if you sold multiple copies. You could sell the one copy for quite a bit though.

I had thought of selling just a single copy, and I am most likely to go down this route.

Honestly keep working on it, get it top notch then sell it or do a license for it, such as IPB, vBulletin.
Up to you though (:

I love it, I really do. It's obvious you've spent time on this. Obviously you will continue to add features to make it better so carry on, you're doing a good job :)

It looks awesome... Just one thing.. The navigation link hover should be dark grey instead of blue in my eyes. Looks better?
