View Full Version : COMPETITION IDEA

Hey,
Last night I was tuned in to DJ Faybulous's show and she did a 'Raffle' where you payed 1 credit to be put in a draw. That's when I got this idea:
Each week instead of just having the Lottery there should also be a raffle.
The raffle will cost 1hc sofa per entry, then each name would be given a number - So you could use a random number generator on the internet to get the numbers.
The Raffle would be called the '100hc Raffle'. This would be because:
ONE Person Wins: 70hc
TWO People Win: 7hc
THREE People Win: 3hc
SEVEN People Win: 1hc
---
People that enter could also enter MORE than once. For example:
I buy 3 tickets. I pay the competitions department 3hc.
Mr-Trainor buys 1 ticket. He pay's the competitions department 1hc.
However since I had bought one ticket, I now have THREE numbers in the draw. So I could have numbers 32, 43 and 12. BUT Mr-Trainor would only get one number, which lets say is 21
Then when the random generator is rolled we would ask it to generate 13 numbers. And in the order they come up, thats the order people win. E.G. The first number comes up might be 21. Mr-Trainor will therefore win the 80hc prize. Then 32 might come up, and I would be ONE of the winners of the 7hc prize.

Check out the Random Number generator http://www.random.org/integers/

Sorry but you'll be lucky finding people that will pay a hc, half the forum barely uses habbo anyways.

Hmm maybe, maybe not.
If it is advertised on the radio im sure you might, fayeublous got 300 credits in an hour :D
And about the forum it doesnt matter really.
BTW all pricing was just a example.
Cheers for feedback!

I have to agree with harry here!
I don't think we'd get 100 hcs from it anyway and the competitions department can't give away 100 hcs each week, we'd have nothing left after a few weeks!

As i say all pricing was just an example :)
If lets say 30 people bought 1 ticvket, and 10 bought 2 tickets, then you have 50hc straight awya.
Its just an idea i guess - Blame Faye!
I know it's a good idea, but I don't think it would work.
Maybe H0BJ0B will think different?

You never know!
As i say, it couold be changed to five credits a tickety, and all entries goes into the draw. As long as it is a fair bit betetr than the free lottery then it should be ok!

Good initiative and would be great if it'd work but I don't think it'd work with the proportions you gave. Perhaps if there were 30 people playing 1hc each with the first prize being 20hc or something then people might not even want to bother lol.

Thats why I didnt, as the free lottery gives more than that away :D
Tbh I would prefer to the free lottery, or even a raffle where you do the one credit thing.
As i say its all just a plan atm :)

There would defo be 100 people willing to do it but I think the problem with Habbox is that people who don't use Habbox often will never hear about it. It's like the Rare Values Desk, productions etc they would be so popular if people actually knew they existed. I know both of these have closed just two examples off the top off my head.

True.
perhaps if DJ's had to advertise it at certain times of the day too, and get people to join the forum - So many people at the thought of winning loads at one hc would be inetrested!

DJ's can advertise it, yes. Then the 200 people or however many listen hear it, most of them are either newish and enjoy Habbo Radio's are on Habbox and get automatically tuned in, lol. It could be mentioned on the forum but like Harry said a lot of people on here no longer use Habbo.

It use to work quite well, and it was first introduced when I ran the first free lottery. It could work again, but not with such high stakes of 100 HCs.

I don't mind :D It happened before with the idea I posted about a eyar ago, about new members should have posts approved. That got put into place after i lost about 100 rep from it LOL :D
I think it would be fun, and I would put a few hc's a week in, from bets i win etc
p.s. Alive yeh kinda of like that,. but the entry wouldnt just choose his/her number. When they enter a random number would be given to them, and then whoeevr runs the raffle, will use the random number generator to get the winner.

Maybe it could be 100 if it was done fortnightly or every three weeks, or maybe once per month.

Yeh :)
I think I'd personally prefer a smaller one each week, as one more people might win.
But basically the total raised, and amybe a lil bit extra from donations gets split in to a mai nwinner, runners up, and a certain ammount of epople get a hc back and stuff like that :)
P.S. Nice to see soem views atlast! :D

Yeah but the 70HC jackpot would be so lucrative to some people and more people would just think "i'll whack a hc down might win 70" sorta thing.

Maybe use credits? Or a HC is worth 4 tickets or something.

Yeh.
Perhaps it could be started at five credits a ticket, with 200 credit prize or something.
Then if it goes well, the stakes get raised etc.
But as you say a bigger winning, will attract more people - But I would love to be able to do it regularly!
Immenseman
11-01-2009, 12:12 PM
I mean you could make it 0.5 per ticket (dicemaster / oil lamp) etc but the thing is who the hell wants to win them, lol. Using a HC per ticket makes the most sense. Say there was an 100HC one monthly then Habbox could even keep 10HC to fund a couple of extra events and make the grand jackpot 60hc or something.
AgnesIO

Yeh I agree with that!

Na wouldnt make a difference how many tickets you get for the hc, it would just make the numbers higher.
E.G. If ten people bought a ticket. Thats 10 numbers used.
Or 10 people buy a tickey. Thats forty nukbers.
But the odd's will still be the same.
However some people may not realise this and think its a better deal!

I'm fairly sure Yonder had a hand in designing the lottery system for Habbox, and from memory Habbox kept 20% of the club sofas, and the winner got the 80%. Winning a lot of club sofas is a good prize and the 20% can boost prizes for other departments at Habbox. But I still do think 100 club sofas is too many, unless it was monthly.

I think the 100HC one would get people talking and it could spread via the word of mouth. Say they kept 15HC out of the 100 the main winner could get something like 70HC and the rest could be used for runner up prizes.

Perhaps a smaller one could be done inbetween the month, and if you buy four tickets to the large one you get automatically put in a smaller draw :)

Maybe Habbox could try it again, and start will a smaller amount, like 30 or 40 and see how it goes, and if it's successful increase the stakes ;)
I still don't think people would like the idea of paying a HC lol
Jake could argue that he would but we all know HCs are like rubber ducks to the habbo tycoon that is Immenseman ;)

Or they could do this big monthly one and keep the free lottery (if that still exists). I think it should be tried for February and if they don't sell enough tickets they can either go ahead or just refund everyone, wouldn't take long. Would give management a general idea of how many people are interested.

Very good idea, and since my birthday is next sunday, perhaps all funds raised go to me nstead? LOL :D
On a serious note: It would be fab to test it, but explain refunds will be given if not enoguh people enter!¬

I would be suprised if many users find one hc too much.
Perhaps Its 0.5hc for 2 tickets, and 1hc for 6 tickets?
To give an advantage of buying more :)

Once upon a time there was a lottery held with thrones, now that's what I call very high stakes, it ended in disaster and the loss of a Hotel Manager, but that's another story, and I can't remember it all but poor Jibbi, so I do think gambling one club sofa isn't really a great deal to lose, if you consider what you can win.
I agree dom
I think they should get more than one ticket for one hc :)
and Alice, I think if we did it, then at first not many people would participate but after they see people winning a lot they might be persuaded :)

I'm not over keen on gambling, but if you knew the gamble was with an honest gambler (Habbox in this instance). I think it would be fairly easy to hand over 1 club sofa, in the hope of winning 30 or so. It's a fantastic prize to win based on the roll of a few dices.

Interesting idea. I know I went to a few when Acqua was running them (unless that's me going crazy). The problem I have is the confusion and organisation of the free one, and the paid one - so I'd probably look at doing this monthly if we were to introduce it (we could then keep a counter somewhere which shows how many HCs are in the pot).
I don't know how it was run last time, but I'm not sure how we would go about selling the tickets - would it be at certain times each week or when people PM me, etc.? Seeing as it'd be a monthly competition, I'm sure 20 HC sofas would be fine for us to put in as a starter, and then we'd start to raise it when we've received the 20 from ticket buyers and we are getting more.
I'll talk to general management and maybe, as suggested, we could try it out for February.
Sammeth.

I believe there are already some plans in the early stages to revive the old paid lottery :) But that's not to say we won't take suggestions, as alterations to the way it works can easily be made to make it more enjoyable so it will be fun to see all your ideas.
I'm not too keen on the raffle kind of format with the one number. I prefer the normal 3 digit number style of things, but then again that's just me. If I remember from the last time we did it (I remember taking part one month) there were 36 different possible combinations of 1 1 1, 1 1 2 etc. and each one cost 1HC. Then 30HCs were given away to the winner and 6 were kept to help fun departments. I think anyway, I'm not sure if someone else has cleared it up as I've read this thread very quickly :(

I PERSONALLY prefer raffle, as long as habbox screenie the number generator, and tbh I'd trust H0B with that. The only thing i don't like about lottery, it would be better if there wasnt the same combination. I prefer just like only one person can have a number. I also think people would be mroe inetrested if there was more than one winner, like un the lottery as people would be more interested. Infact I'll do an example.
