well i thought god put like 2 animals of each onto earth i dunno if that's right so then you'd think the two chickens would have made babies = egg so chicken first. oh i dunno lol

The first chicken must have laid an egg, then its baby made love to the first chicken to create another chicken.

Incest all over.

The egg so the chicken could hatch from it.

The bird because the egg wouldnt hatch without something sitting on it.

The egg, because chickens are hatched from eggs and whatever the chicken evolved from must of laid eggs. So eggs :/

I came first.

Take that which ever way you want to.

The egg because the chicken was the result of a mutation from another species of bird

The answer to the question is obvious in that you can't have a chicken without an egg first and you can't have an egg without a chicken first to lay it, but we are talking about "a long time ago" and we all know that "a long time ago" the world was covered in water, therefore the answer to the question which came first, is the "aquachicken".

The aquachicken laid the egg, the waters receded, the aquachickens lost the ability to swim and its eggs lost the ability to float, thats Darwin for you, aqua chickens became stranded on land and became chickens as we know them.

therefore the answer to the questions is , "the aquachicken"...

If the question is "Which came first, the chicken or the egg from which chickens are born?" then it's an infinite circle.
However the question doesn't define the egg so naturally reptile eggs came before bird eggs because there were reptiles before birds. Answer is the egg.

Right, I will lay it out for all you simpletons who can't get your head around it:

You have a "chicken", one that looks almost identical to today's chickens, but just aren't it yet, the egg it lays has a mutation inside it that makes the chicken inside lay more eggs, go faster, whatever, as long as it's some kind of advantage, this chicken then hatches and because it has a genetic advantage it mates and then there are more etc etc killing off the other chickens without the advantage, you'd consider this chicken to be the modern day chicken, thus the egg came first, with the mutated chicken inside it. Simple science if you ask me.

That's just a huge step taken, it'd take a long long time for the mutations to be anything noteworthy it'd just be tiny tiny steps until the actual modern day chicken came out at the end.

Just the argument I would have put across :P I couldn't think of how to describe it, thank god for you posting before me :).

Unfortunately the discovery of dinosaurs ruins that argument.
