Hi
I've done something stupid.. lost my passport. And I'm traveling on 13th of february on a plane. If I applied for one tomorrow (17th) online, would it be here in time? I don't know what the average passport processing time is. +rep for help, this is important!

You should apply for a passport as soon as possible and use the fast track option, i think it costs more but it is alot quicker by far and will arrive well before 13th FEB.

It only takes a few weeks to arrive, I'm pretty sure it will be here for the 13th. :)

Good luck.

By appointment only at passport office counters – guaranteed same day Premium service: £114 per adult (you must go to the passport office in London)

- or -

By appointment only at passport office counters guaranteed one week Fast Track service: £97 (you must go to the passport office in London)

It's the only way you'll get it. It takes three weeks to process a Passport, plus three days to send from the office. No way would you get it by your fly out date.

If you're flying within the UK, do you need a passport? After now knowing that, I hope you don't need one :O

As far as I am aware, you need a Passport to go through any airport where you will be boarding an aircraft.

The maximum is 3 weeks you should need to wait should they be taking a long time, eg busy period.

I got mine really quick if you use a fast track, and all this was from a post office.

No you don't need a passport if you're flying in the UK. I don't have a passport but I was able to fly using my national health insurance card.

National health insurance card.. that's new :P

I'm sure that anything that proves you're from UK (like National Insurance) can mean you can fly anywhere in Britain (as you're flying internally). I may be/most likely to be wrong though.

EDIT: I looked around google and people say you don't need passport flying within UK but you need photo ID

Your quicker to get a form and send it away. When you apply online you can only fill half of it in and they send you it out and stuff.

Or go to your local passport office and get a 1 day one, costs more but sometimes it has to be done.

For traveling in the UK i am pretty sure you dont need a passport just some sort of ID to prove who you are. EG a drivers license.

You don't need a passport if you're flying domestically (Within the UK in your case) but you will need SOME form of identification.

Additionally when I got my passport renewed, I chose the fastrack option and it came a few days later.

If you're flying domestic you can use most official id, driving licence, NI card ect..

It might of changed since a few years ago, but i'm pretty sure it's still the same.

Why don't you just read the UK passport website.
It takes 7 day to process about 5 days delivery.

The turn around for my bf's passport for our Christmas Hol in December, was 10 days I think, which was incredible especially considering Christmas post!

I wouldn't risk it though, go to your nearest passport office- it'll be a long day though :(

Apply for the passport, and if it doesn't come try and get onboard the plane using your NI card or other identification, as you are not leaving the country you are not passing through customs.

Also with regards to going to London, I do not believe you have to do that if you have already owned a passport.

I fly to and from London with my brother and sister. I can asure you that you do not need a passport. When we fly, all we need is our tickets we printed online. After that, nothing.
