GRRRRRRRRRRRR THIS HAS PUT ME IN A VERY BAD MOOD.

As some of you know I was having a big dispute with a seller cause he sent me something which was quite significantly misdescribed.

To cut a long story short, after some crap from him we communicated through the resolution centre and agreed upon a partial refund of £50 to me.

However, he then started saying his account was frozen and he couldn't send me any money so he would do it externally. I was advised to keep it within paypal though, so I contacted them and they replied telling me to just escalate to a claim as they would be able to see we had made an agreement and they would facilitate the payment.

So I did that, then I get an email yesterday telling me that I need to return the item otherwise he will win. So I contacted them again asking why the hell I would have to return it considering we had agreed upon a partial refund through our comunications.

Just got another email this morning though saying that I have to return it to him in order to receive a £150 refund (DESPITE THE FACT I PAID £250 IN THE FIRST PLACE:@) otherwise he would win because it wouldn't be fair for him.

SO I WAS SO ANGRY :@ I sent a big email of complaint saying I don't understand what the hell they are playing it. It's there in black and white for them that we have both agreed the refnud of £50 but they are so bucking thick they have to stick their big ore in and end up turning it into a shambles.

Then to top it all off, I noticed that I had actually received a refund of £50 to my account. But under that, there is a paypal reversal of £11 and a creditcard chargeback of £39.

I'm like ***, so i contacted the seller and he said paypal took the £50 from his account and he doesn't want anymore contact from. But after reading up on paypal, apparently you get creditcard chargebacks when the seller has to refund a payment and they claim unauthorised use or something? But paypal say that they inform you when you get one and help you dispute it - clearly I have had no contact at all!

GRRR I am just so mad with the whole thing, the company is such a huge shambles and they go on and on about security and fair services, but to be perfectly honest they are so wrapped up in their moral highgruond that they obviously don't add an ounce of common flipping sense to any situation!!

So - any advice how to sort out this flipping creditcard chargeback as after 2 months of fighting for my refund I have had it taken straight back off me!!!:@

I know I am really so mad! They honestly put in no ounce of common sense into it at all, the whole resolution centre and communication thing is a joke

The twice I have actually had to use it they have cleearly ruled unfairly because they are too busy trying to take the high moral ground.

It's a flipping joke, I just wish there was something else to use to pay so widely with better customer service.

The credit card charge back is classic, it can happen with any account. You make the payment then phone up your bank and say "I noticed a unusual transaction i did not make".

The bank investigates and if they think your telling the truth they think it might be fraud, issue a new card, cancel the old one and refund you the money, then obviously claim it back off paypal. Meaning it then comes out of your account.

Your best advice is to escalate to a claim and send the item back recorded signed for, and then put the tracking number in your claim and atleast you will get £150 back, i know its not the full amount, but its better than nothing.

No luke, that is what I am most annoyed about!

I contacted them for advice and they told me to escalate to a claim because they would look at our communications and fix it up fine, so I did and now they have done this!

It is such a joke.

Ask the person to pay you via echeque, it comes though PP doesn't it?

I try and use it as little as i can to be honest. They are happy taking your money, but then when theres a problem, they don't care. Take alook here;

Your not the first to have problems, and surely won't be the last.

My advice for the future: Use it only when you have 2! Also use your card as much as you can if you do use it, that way if it goes wrong, just phone your bank up and claim 'unathorised use' or 'fraud' and that way you will get your money back without even involving Paypal.

If there is a alternative way to pay, use it!

You'll always do better on the phone or on paper than email, just as a starting point.

Don't accept anything less than a refund, and threaten court action.

That is quite an unfortunate event you have yourself there, I would phone up, tell them what's happened and see what they say. If nothing happens, threaten them. It's THE ONLY WAY!!!
