but has it effected YOU?

For example are you spending differently? Are you having to cut back?

Notice anything has changed in you shopping pattern?

Nope, nothing has really changed, parents have more of an income from partnership in security alarm company as their is more of a demand as their is more robberies.

Im actually spending more than ever, and all my food I get from sainsburys, suprisingly a lot of good deals.

What your parents income is, will effect you though. Like less food or clothes ;)

I can't exactly say it's effected me at all. My family don't spend any less, infact, arguably you could say more :P

It has / should not affect us directly, but all 3 of us are watching what we buy and just buying what we need to stay comfortable.

With all this "recession" and the dollar - sterling exchange rate going crazy (reached 1.34 yesterday), we are most likely cutting the holidays to the USA by a few weeks per year. Every little counts I suppose.

Likewise.

And also, my girlfriends family invested like £20,000 last year in HBOS, have about half of it now cause of the crappy interests and all the rest of it.. lol

I'm benefiting greatly. We bought a new house on a flexible rate mortgage last year, so not only did we get it around 50kish cheaper than it's value a year or two back but we're only on 2.8% interest. It's insane how well we worked it.

I'm with Tesco, they're reluctant to hire new staff so there's plenty of overtime if I need it. Feeling much better off.

lol, well ive been spending more cause everything is cheap. but its not going to stay that way. eventually everything is going to be more expensive. take the bankruptcy of circut city - everything will be cheaper there but once it's offically gone, best buy is going to have absolutely no competition and can make their prices whatever they want to.

then as less money in economy less people will be paying those prices so they will eventually go down.

what is circut city btw? never heard of it?

not necessarily. businesses still need technology. its like gas. people complain about gas prices all the time, but they always pay. circut city was the second largest electronics retailer in the world, it went out of business last week, 30,000 people are losing their jobs.

Uhm nothings affected me really. Me and my family don't go out as much, we have to turn everything off to save electricity and since we're on a watermeter I can't shower as long (lol 20 mins......).

Apart from that it's alright, my job is getting more profit everyday so its kl. :D

You know your are up **** creek with a mortgage like that? They start off low, then the interest ratw will rise until you can't afford it and the bank forecloses on it.

My mom paid off our house last last year, so we're in the clear. The appartments are paying themselves off with rent and such.

nahh, the mortgages banks are giving out are all good atm. They need people to buy houses, take out loans and not save, mainly so they can survive. Now is the time to buy a house

Ours started off high and has kept going down and down. We owned both of the houses we sold to buy this one so we pretty much own a good 3 quarters of it. That, the low interest rates and a few accounts (forgot what the *******s are called =[) maturing soon should mean we pay the great majority of it off before they hike them all back up again.

Thats why so many people are in the hole in America. You have penalties if you pay off your mortgage early too.

Ah, we don't get that so much over here. I think they just want the money back as quick as possible. We had a really amazing Financial Adviser for the move too, saved us a lot.
