I'm guessing the first badge is for joining something. And that the second badge is the low level badge. That's if Mei Ling went to your room & aced your trial. The last badge is if Mei Ling fails your trial.

Haha I see your point. The last one is pretty nice though. Maybe its a badge that changes through time. If it actually stays that way i.e. half empty, then it's pretty silly.
