how come everyones deciding not to rap anymore? ugh. you know, i honestly wouldnt mind if the actual instrumentals were good and there werent completely obvious lyrical flaws. ive defended lil wayne's horrible guitar playing and auto-tune before, but im disappointed with this. when did lil wayne turn into an insecure high school kid?
then again, i'd rather listen to this than nickleback. it'll be a bit of a step up for popular modern rock, but thats not saying much.

right?!
another problem, im just throwing this out there, is that there is no one this song is intended for. think about it: rock fans are going to hate it because it's lil wayne, and lil' wayne fans are going to hate it cause he's not rapping. it's a lose-lose situation. at least when kanye started singing, his demographic pretty much stayed the same. but who lil wayne is writing this for is beyond me.
and yeah, tha carter II > III. though he has been coming out with some awesome stuff recently. he even did a song with jeezy that was pretty awesome, but i dont think rock's gonna work.

Oh god lord I don't like Lil Wayne in most of his rap stuff let alone trying to actually sing
@above: that's because KanYe's demographic is white rock fans

there isnt a problem with lil wayne doing rock, in fact i love when artists expand their music. the only problem is that if this single is any indication, this record will surely suck lol.
and as a side note to all the "robot voice" stuff- i dont have a problem with any type of music as long as it sounds good. i dont believe there is a type of "cheating" when making music, so i honestly dont care if an artist uses auto-tune. i dont understand why people are so against it all of a sudden. critically acclaimed musicians like daft punk have been using that same affect for years, but when musicians like t-pain or kanye use it for the sake of pop music, its a problem? i really dont get it lol.
btw, lil wayne grew up listening to rock, he often says his favorite band ever is nirvana.
I dont understand why hes trying to change, personally I dont prefer his rapping because it has no meaning to it, but I can understand why people do like his music becuase of the beat.
I was in Guitar Center a couple months ago getting some sticks and saw a black kid with his friend dressed in ed hardy and stuff like that, gangster like clothes (duno how to word it) and he was buying an electric guitar. so if rappers turning to using realy instruments is going to influence more people to learn how to play instruments instead of just beating on the table with some pencils in school, than im all for it.

He's got Kevin Rudolph signed to Cash Money now so he's probably gonna be producing the entire disaster

I actually just heard one of the songs from his new rock album and its not bad. It's kind of what I would expect from lil wayne with a guitar. But something prom queen? totally stereotypical.
