my 18th birthday is coming up in june and tbh i have my heart set on a party. Cept theres so many family members and stuff that a simple house party wont accomodate everyone.

in my bank account i have almost £700 which would cover most of the funds, if not all of it.

However, last time i discussed it with my mother, around august, she whinged to me that no venues allow 18ths because of the fighting and underaged drinking - yet a friend of mine had an 18th at a local pub and told me about a different pub that could accomodate around 100 - 150 people.

Im gunna phone up and enquire.. but im not sure if i should talk to my parents about it first, or just do it myself to get prices etc first, and then talk to them and discuss it?

Obv my parents are more bothered about prices, but if i can pay for it myself, surely thats enough? They're all going on holiday in may for a week, but im not wasting my own money on going on a holiday which i wont enjoy, every holiday is a disaster for us so i want aparty instead.

So what should i do? and how will i have this conversation with my parents, who really dont understand me and dont list.

If your are set on having a party and your parents are ok with it. Ask one of them to ring up and make the booking for you and give them the money and then you should be able to cover the rest of the costs on your own.

local youth clubs are a good place to find out about, or rugby/football clothes.

Trust me, they dont think in that way :P

After telling my mum about the places i found for a party, she pointed fault with every single one, ranging from the rooms being too small, pubs having bad reputation, and hard access to others. So i've relunctantly agreed to go on holiday and i will just make my 21st party something 10x as special. But they'll have to pay for it ALL since i wont really be earning, unless i have some kind of weekend job. Cos I'll be doing a biology degree, so i wont have a full time job or anything
