DVD's to mpg4?

I'm getting a video iPod so instructions/programmes to turn dvd's to iPod format (I think mpg4) would be really appreciated.

I don't really want to just download a programme from google without knowing if it's safe or not.

The best free program which you can use is HandBrake (http://handbrake.fr/?article=download). I use this myself and the quality of the output is top notch.

Yes, very easy to use. You can find guides on their website to help. The only downside to the program is the conversion time, can take up to 2hrs or so for a lengthy film. Although, the output is well worth the wait.
