In the world news section its getting really annoying where people go onto bbc news or something, copy and paste the article and then post the link. Without there view at all! They dont even say anything about it other then it happend! I read the threads for peoples opinions not a quote and link. Is there anything you can do about this?

Sadly, I don't think there's anything within the rules that say they can't. I know it's a bit disappointing, but maybe from then pasting that article people do create a reasonable discussion. It's not all that bad either, as you could conveniently read what the story is all about :).

They don't need to post a view if they post a link/quote then its bringing attention to the article, its same as habbo news they don't have to post their views on a new advertisement or whatever crap they post in there.

A lot of the time though it does create a discussion between other members and the person who posted will contribute more to the thread. I don't think it's really too much of a problem.

The fact that they thought it interesting enough to post it is kinda an opinion in itself :P

Yeah, I agree with Jess and Alex. Its kind of being a bearer of news so others are aware and can then post their opinion. I don't think I've ever seen a thread in there that hasn't sparked off a discussion that's related.

The fact that they thought it interesting enough to post it is kinda an opinion in itself :PIndeed but this is not often the case, it's rarely interesting news, it's just boring stuff which they don't understand or some crazy american story which is very fabricated.

The World News section has never been the same since Undertaker was banned, he created lots of very constructive arguments and created threads on Politics and aired his views well. Although he didn't get on with many people and had particularly 'odd views', he was easily the life behind that section and frankly if I ever want to discuss serious news these days I just use UK Youth parliament forums.

I agree with Corporal that there's no use in posting just a link, it isn't a very complexed opinion and the right to post just URLs can and has been abused. If this was needed, then you'd create a BBC News feed and robots could do it more efficiently.

how many articles do you think are posted on here a day?

how many articles do you think are published on BBC a day?

I'm sure there'll be ALOT more on BBC per day than posted on here.

Putting a BBC feed or something would effectively kill the world news section imho.

The whole point in the forum initially is to inform other people of news that they might not be aware of, they go ohm and go have a look. I am always coming across stories that i have not heard about and the forum is a great source for spreading information that interests others. How they post it is up to them and is their right to be honest.

Putting a BBC feed or something would effectively kill the world news section imho.I didn't say we needed a BBC News feed, I'm saying if they're taking the approach of having URLs posted then we may as well have a news feed as in essence it's exactly the same. Obviously you wouldn't choose an entire BBC News feed, you can get RSS Feeds for specific categories but clearly most the stuff posted is either very big news or 'silly news' so it wouldn't be appropriate. A good source for odd news is: http://news.yahoo.com/i/757

I am always coming across stories that i have not heard about and the forum is a great source for spreading information that interests others. How they post it is up to them and is their right to be honest.Well that wholey depends on what you class as a 'Quality' post, I guess it differs from person to person. I think all posts should be constructive and include one's opinion, this is perhaps where my opinion differs to the forum's management, and with this being a teen forum it's perhaps appropriate that Quality posting isn't too harsh but I generally get bored of reading crap.

I always thought the section was to discuss news not a collaboration of news reports that people have put together. I don't see it as a 'right' if they don't have a single word to say on the matter other than a URL, I see that as pointless posting for one reason or another. Thread starters should initiate debates from the original post not wait for other people to start debating for them so their thread can be seen as 'successful'.

The section is also losing it's point a little because half of the news is posted in the ever redundant 'Discuss Anything' forum, it's sometimes posted in both.

Why don't they get a feed from Sky News?
They dont have silly little news.

I think I would rather see a news post written by the BBC.

Habboxforum user:

2day a bomb blew up on a bus.

BBC:

In the early hours of this morning, a small bomb was detonated on the 624 bus in London. Nobody was hurt and the terrorist was killed in the explosion.

Yeh, the BBC offers a better, more detailed and less biased news report. So I would much rather read a pasted news report than someone having ago at being the next Trevor McDonald.

The feed doesn't matter. You can go ahead and disagree on the BBCs views if you like and thats what the world news forum is there for.

Use some RSS integration because it IS annoying. It happens in the sports section, also.

It's called a sub-forum of RSS.

I agree with this and what Jess said.
It makes other people give their opinions and brings attention to the article.
