A U.N. spokesman says Hamas police in Gaza have seized thousands of blankets and food parcels meant for needy residents.

Spokesman Christopher Gunness says Hamas police raided a U.N. warehouse in Gaza City on Tuesday evening. He says police snatched 3,500 blankets and more than 400 food parcels.

The aid is vital now because Gazans are facing hardship after Israel's three-week military offensive against Hamas.

Hamas has ruled Gaza since it seized control of the territory in 2007. Gunness said Wednesday this is the first time Hamas has seized U.N. aid.

Israeli officials have charged that the militant group routinely confiscates supplies meant for needy Gazans.

That's people who donated's money, gone.Nope, the UN is funded by governments (Mainly the US, Brazil, Japan, UK, France & Germany).

I'll wait till I see more on this story, I'm always a little sceptical about news in Gaza.

I was at a lecture on the Palestinian conflict by a guy who'd been out in Israel researching it for the last few months. Really interested the views and opinions of someone who'd actually been out there.

Because unfortunately after an Eight hour round trip, I didn't really fancy remembering them.

But, he made the point that you can't complain that Israel is using a disproportionate amount of force against a less advanced enemy because you can't exactly allow Hamas to keep lobbing rockets at Israel and wait until they're as technologically advanced to stop it.

But he raised the question should you trade land for lives? Should Israel ease up and give the Palestinians more land to appease them and stop the bloodshed.
