Thinking about building a custom PC

Well my dads old computer is just sitting there, It has around 3 gig of ram and maybe 100 gig if its lucky. Its in good nick so im thinking maybe i should get a new fan for it, As the fan it has is pretty broke. Im wanting a quiet fan that will keep cool i suppose.
What do you guys think

I really dont know scott, i'd like to make it a bit better. it runs on XP which is fine for me but not sure what else, Its not fast for some reason :(

Right, just turned it on again and checked everything and its making this loud beep :S
every couple of seconds after i turn it on and it does like 2 beers and goes of again

I'd be concerned too if my PC was consuming beer.
