I wear lacoste tracsuits, nike tracsuits etc with a polo shirt underneath or something and some **** keeps calling me a chav, but tbh I wouldn't class myself as a chav? :S The only reason I don't like wearing jeans and things like that is cause when I'm out I usually play footie or something similar and jeans are a pain. But yeah what would you class as a chav? :S

Of course it varies, I know someone that smokes that is the furthest thing away from a chav, and I know someone that dresses like a chav but hates chavs.

I know it's so annoying! I'm a Lacoste junkie, have 3 pairs of lacoste trainers black and white and joggers, lacoste jumper n that (don't wear it all together lol) but I still get called a chav! I'm with the "anti-chav" regime. And the "anti-gypsie" regime, but that's another matter.

The only exercise chavs are ever involved in is from the choice of:
a) 'beating up' his 'friend' who is now screwing his crack-*****
b) running away with a little old lady's bag
c) running away from the police

And yes, I can be very quick to stereotype someone as a chav. Sorry, it comes natural. It's not just the tracksuit thing. I can accept tracksuits as acceptable sport wear with acceptable trainers... but when it's clearly the likes of Fred Perry with some huge moonboots, I usually avoid said person like the plague.

Sometimes I am wrong with my estimations. Sometimes. My chav-detector is 99% accurate.

JJB is full of chavs. Sports & Soccer is 90% filled with chavs and 10% with bargain hunter or someone looking for sports equipment. My local market doesn't sell said clothes. JD is the respectable one of the bunch, with maybe 60% chavs. The problem is that I would never go to JD for any sports gear, bar some trackies. Speaking of which, I need some more...

Chavs can't be defined as those who get involved in petty crime or who get in fights, because people of all shapes, sizes etc can get involved in all of that. Chavs are more the people who go looking for a fight every 2 minutes, when they're sober, just to get a laugh, aswell.

I agree with Crimson with his copy and pasting :P and on the clothes part, but I know people who wear the typical 'chav' wear who don't have a single bit of chav in them. Its usually down to a combination of three factors:

- Clothes (usually sports brands, used to be burberry and nike, but it's spread)
- Anti-social behaviour and attempts to obtain a 'mark of honor' (aka. ASBO)
- Listen to trance/techno/remix music (but it has to be played at rather high levels so everyone around you can hear it, sort of anti-social noise pollution)

So if you don't fit into all three completely, then your not really a chav and people who call you a chav are just looking for an excuse to catagorise you into a group they can abuse.

Also, the younger chavs do act differently than the older ones, the younger ones are outside more, cause more abuse and most of the problems, the older ones are usually drug junkies or have children in their older age (18+) and tend to stay indoors etc.

If anyone is a chav on the forum, sorry for being negative, I'm from an area where chavs are a real problem with the chav generation now reproducing and I've got most of this info from my experience with them.

If you mean older as in the 20+ year olds or whatever then that's because they're always with their girlfriends carting around however many kids they have back and forth to the benefits centre. The ones that are like 18 and below are all pretty much the same.

A little off-topic here, but this reminds me of Shipwrecked, where one woman said "i'm not gonna be the typical arrogant black person you find in London." She gets there, and what is she? Arrogant, mouthy, argumentative - completely the opposite of what she said she did not want to be.

Agreed. I think some of the stuff from Republic is quite nice and I wouldn't associate it with chavs. The only stores I'd associate with chavs are JJB, JD Sports and Sports Direct etc.

Well basically, I only wear what I'm comfortable in. Where I live I actually never see anybody in skinny jeans . I don't see how clothing can put you into a group but there you go.
