Starts at 9:00AM in April 5th 2009, on Fuji TV!!



1. More exciting by re-editing!!: The footage will be totally re-edited and HD-remastered!!
2. New opening and ending!!: Both footage and songs will be renewed! The sound effects in the show will also be renewed!!
3. Superb seiyus will gather for the show!!: The show will be re-dubbed by the original casts!!

This post says that the number of episodes will be about 100. They will reconstruct the whole episodes.


And They won't redraw the footage in the show. Only some digital effects will be added.

97 - Gt finished its run and that was the end of the series.
03 - they released the "Dragon Boxes" which were remasterd versions of the series and movies
08 - The Anime Jump Special

Thats the japanese airings. it was america that re-showed it for years, re-released dvds ect. And the fact that its the 20th anniversary since DB began obviously they would do something for it.

The funimation box sets ive been buying. The japanese audio is low quality because its old. So im hoping funimation get this and release and NOT region lock them. Or hope a cheap region free blu ray player comes out.

Its been giving the name "Dragonball Kai" im wanting more information on what there doing. want to knwo if there recolouring it or just touching up parts.

The story will be developed speedily!
"Kai" starts from the invasion of the Saiyans. This version will be re-edited to hew more closely to Akira Toriyama's original story, so the story's development will progress all the faster!


The opening and ending songs will be completely renewed!!
The opening and ending songs will together be made anew! Furthermore, in "Kai", the background music will be newly recorded. Let's enjoy "Kai", where even the music has been powered up!!


Through digital processing, the image will be made vibrant!!
All the grime, damage and noise remaining on the "Z" film will be removed! In HD, the image will be even clearer. We've carefully made the ultra-powerful "Kai" world even more impressive!


An all-star voice cast will record the lines anew!!
The original main cast, centered around Masako Nozawa as Son Goku, will reunite, yo. They'll breathe life into the characters again, to support their appeal!!
